A couple of days ago I spent the last of my millions on a Geo Pistol in hopes that I could beat my buddies when we're armored. That left me with under 20k cr to my name, so last night I decided to do something I hadn't done sinceJanuary.I went to the bank, picked up may backpack of slicing gear and turned on my Master Smuggler tag.
In the end, I made 155k credits slicing in Coronet last night. It felt great! I had forgotton what it was like having to slice for a living. Let's just say, I love being a smuggler!

I've been charging a flat fee of 5k per slice. I only had one person turn that down last night. I've also recently talked to other Kette smugglers who are charging the same fee.
I always either see 100 cr per % or a flat fee of 5k. In my experience, customers tend to like the flat fee more. I guess this is because they don't have to do math for it. I like it because it gives me more money *grin*

Only charging 100cr per % is the lamest way to make cash , let me change that, its the best way to lose cash fast. I mean if you don't charge 5k per slice you'll never be able to buy any of the slicing gear. As a master Smug on Kettemoor 5k per slice is the best way to do things I think.

im master right now on scylla, ive been charging 200 cred per % increase and the business is nothing but great. i have to stock up big time on clamps, auks, and wuks. i never charge for under 20% slices. and i give discounts for whole suits of armour or more than 5 piecs to slice. i also give discounts for return customers (of which i have a lot) all my customers are very happy with their slices. some times ill get clsoe to 90k for 1 customer (whiole suit and guns). i also give big breaks to newbies who dont have enuff money... im a nice guy....

I just did a big factory run of mol clamps and RLK's on scylla natty, let me know if you're in need of them.
I find the charge for slicing to be largely secondary. I charge 4k for in-faction, 5k for out-of-faction clients. I've charged less, and more, but I really only charge to keep the trash out. I charge enough that people pay attention to what they're buying, rather than charging 100cr and getting every idiot slicing everything he owns.
The greatest fun I have is in RP'ing a smuggler. I love meeting folks in a smoky cantina and telling them that I have friends in the bar keeping an eye on them. I love telling them they never met me, and if I heard they were saying otherwise, I'll come get them. On the other hand though, there's a big chunk of the population that can't RP, and is pretty much retarded. Take this short interaction from earlier in the week.
randomimp tells you: 'r u imp?'
I don't bother responding.
randomimp tells you: 'r u imp??'
You tell randomimp: 'I don't discuss my faction on the open airwaves'
randomimp tells you: 'i need 2 buy imp faction does that help?'
You tell randomimp: 'I'm not selling any faction.'
randomimp tells you: 'lol f u looser!'

Obed, as an aspiring Kettemoorian smuggler, would you mind my asking how much you charge for slicing?

The going rate on Kettemoor for slicing appears to be around 100 cr/%. As a master i tell people i slice containers for 2k each, if they say i'm nuts i tell them that the novice smugglers need all the containers they can get their hands on. If a novice is around i'll make sure they have clamps so they can slice the guys containers. And charging the 2k supports me giving clamps to the novice smugglers.
I am thinking about getting together with all the smugglers i can however and start charging a higher price for slicing until we see some love from the developers. What do people say, maybe 500 to 750 cr/%?

Yeah, RPing as a smuggler's lots of fun. Even when 'advertizing' my slicing I always whisper something to the effect of "Hey, pal, need that weapon upgraded? I can do some 'special modifications' for ya." Conducting the transactions in whispers... using euphamisms instead of actually saying "slice." If caught on a muon or pixie downer mumbling something about never going to that restaurant again. Walking instead of running to look more casual. When I'm looking for training or someone to do something for me, saying something like "Word on the street is that you can get me a good blaster. Whatchya got in stock?" or "My contacts tell me you're pretty handy with a pistol. Gotsome tips for a beginner?" All with the smuggler tags up, of course. Some RPers HATE tags. But I like 'em. MMORPG's are a bit limiting because we can't read mannerisms (all the toons fidget the same way) and the moods are kinda incomplete, so matching your tags with your RP is great. When I'm in ST armor or in my Imperial Uniform, the smuggler tags go off for 'guardsman.' When I'm looking for a fight as a civilian, the 'gunslinger' tag goes up. And the speech matches the tag. Of course, I picked the proffessions to fit the RP. Lots of folks don't do that. They might be a Master Dancer but are RPing a Jedi. Kinda silly, if you ask me. I'm not a masterpistoleer/smuggler/marksman because they're uber (we ALL know better than that!), I'm a masterpistoleer/smuggler/marksman because that's what the character is.

i made 1.75 mil in 2 days slicing
i seemed to be the only master smuggler in theed the past to days lol
heck i aint compaling the only downside is im almost outa tools lol, got 2 45% enc slices 1 of which was a rather nice helm, tonight i got a 35% damage slice on my personal disrupter rifle. So basically i went slice monkey for the past few days and i liked it surprisingly. Speaking from the guys that posted in the charging threar i charge 5k per slice , or say " tip me how much you feel my service is to YOU" that normally gets a tip of 6k + outa them
VIVA LA SMUGGLER!

As a kettemoor smuggler I plan on charging 5k per slice and more if I dont really want to slice. I am not a master right now so I dont slice but I am going to master within the next few days and I might go into theed or coronet and put up my master smuggler tag and make my character searchable to see how the slcing goes.
