Can anyone give me a reason to go back to smuggler? I loved the idea of smuggler but yet I don't feel there is any advantage to being one. Right now if I have the materials I can walk up to a smuggler have him make a schem for moun and I have enough moun gold to kill a horse (figuratively ofcourse). Or if I don't want to do that I can buy it by the boat load for pennies on the bizzare. But why even use spice when I can buy food that won't give me the downer and will work better for me!

Slicing something gets old very fast, however it actual can make some cash from it and atleast I feel I am doing something illigelal (that everyone does it and nobody gets caught for!) and there no way to get bonuses for.. not even tapes!!!

I have yet to use the smuggling tree "underworld"yetfor anything except maybe to get a percentage off the faction cost. And lets face it a noob has all the languages taught to him within .. what1 min of entering the game? Oh and as for being able to buy faction points.. only the extremely wealthy cando it because we have to charge 100 -125 credits per and can only do 500per shot! When moist people hear this they say it isn't worth it!

Oh but lets not forget the crowning jewel of the smuggler profession.. the "dirty fighting tree". We get last ditch and knock down.. which has been nerf to the point, where I would be better of throwing stones. Panic shot isgood for... can someone answer that??

But the Mitigations we get really worked well when I went up to the corovette with 10 people and we all came back with black bars!

OK.. I think I may have started ranting a little bit there.. or maybe alot. I gues what I am trying to say that as a master smuggler there was no content to fill my game time... and the skills it gave me didn't give me many options for doing other stuff besides sit in Coronet and slice people stuff. But ok maybe in 18 months after the JTL expansion has been out and gotten it's 100 patches and then we see the combat rebalanced has been rebalanced and... finally on publish 666 will see something that will bring me back to the game.. or maybe not.. because they will be to busy tryin to get rid of the 100000000000 jedis on the game that they basically encourage to create.. oh well back to the armoursmith grind.. atleast they can get tapes.

Well i can only speak for my self on this.

I had smuggler sinds day one i bought the game I realy wanted to play smuggler, but dropped it after a while...well basicly for known reasons to the communitie, bugs, nerfs you name it.

After i heard off JTL (im putting all my last hopes in this one) i tought what the hell and try to pick it up again cos this would be the time for smugglers to realy smuggle (i hope). And well also some off the nice things i hear for the revamp.

well thats my 2 cents....think about....

" am i a fool for still believing.....??"

no slicing is not random there are things that affect slicing:
1) garanteed Increase of min. 1% up to max 35% (45% on armor).
customer: can you slice my weapon please.
Smuggler: sure i can.
2) the garanteed 0% increase.
customer: slice my weapon.
Smuggler: no.
so in short yes we do affect slices its called THE MOOD OF THE SMUGGLER!

My personal "Top Ten" in no particualr order. Take your pick.

  1. I was recently paid for 10k FPwith a BH armor piece worth several times the value of the FP... and 95% of that FP was surplus!

  2. People trust me enough to let me slice weapons I might otherwise never get to see... amazing craftmanship, heavily Krayted, exceptional and legendary weapons... each truly a one-of-a-kind!

  3. Peoplethen pay me lots of creds to give it back with improvements.

  4. I havenot paid for a slice since the first two weeks of this character's life.

  5. I have made deals where crates of my favorite weapon were sliced in exchange for "pick of the litter", in the end saving me (and the weaponsmith) tens of thousands of creds for less than an hour work.

  6. Same as #5, but with armor!

  7. I no longer die in PvE. I rarely die in PvP (fencers are too quick sometimes). Smugglers dont die, they Feign away.

  8. When I do die in PvP, my opponent tends to send me hate mail regarding the small amount of FP they gain for the amount of trouble I caused.

  9. I get to use "/mood shifty" and "/mood sly" alot.

  10. I have a reason to use spice (someone has to, might as well be the scoundrel that made it).

If you don't want me to "play the forums," then I suggest you make time playing the game more rewarding and less repetitive than "playing" here!
READ THIS before telling me I cannot complain about Smuggler
GOT SMUGGLING? - I AM STILL NOT A SMUGGLER - GOT SPICE?

Reasons 2-6. That pretty much sums up the finer points of being a smuggler. There is also the RP aspect and socializing with lots of cool people.

Oh ya, read that awesome thread that talks about funny stories from fellow smugglers.
