hey how about this, i think you guys should beable to get away better than most. so i think you guys should beable to call your vehicles at anytime during combat. and have some sort of stun move so that you can stun us then call out your speeders then bolt. i guess i am really into this revamp cause this will give me some stuff to do. what do you guys think of this idea?

eh panic shot is kind of like that...keeps you from attacking for 10seconds

Actually, Angry may be on to something here... panic shot plus the ability to call a vehicle could be very usefull indeed. I would modify it so we can call a vehicle in 10 seconds and the call is cancelled if we take any new damage, that way /panicshot + call vehicle will be rather a close call, hard to do but very usefull when we can pull it off.

AngryBH, here is a similar idea that I posted back in March...

"Burst Ride"

We've all seen the cowboy movies in which the hero/villain jumps on his horse in mid-gallop and rides off. This is my idea of the SWG version of that.

A new command that would enable Smugglers to call and mount vehicles/creature mountsfrom the state of Burst Run. No stopping. No 15 second waitwhen in the wilderness. The vehicle/creature wouldmatch your Burst Run speed until you mounted it andmanually accelerated it, making for a faster get-away.

Circumstances Required for use:

A.) Must possess necessary HAM pool points.

B.) Must be engaged in Combat.

And,of course, there has to be a cost, so....

Cost:

1.) Added decrease in HAM on top of what Burst Run already demands.

2.) Added decrease in Vehicle/Creature HAM.

3.) Decrease in Vehicle/Creature Condition (nothing drastic but enough to check overuse).

4.) Immediate Disbanding from any group you are apart of (which would also take away any Scan Block priveleges that you may have been providing to group members or any priveleges that may have been given to you.)

In my view this is a way for Smugglers to get out of harm's way. A defensive maneuver. The #1 & #4 costs aboveare especially angled to reflect the "escaping" nature of this move (you'd be discouraged to run towards or further into a battle with your HAM pre-taxed by both Burst Run & the added effect of Burst Ride. And any group benefits that you give and others give you, such as Squad Leaders, would be cancelled).

Basically, the Smuggler is escaping from an untenable situation when he/she is alone or with others saying to everyone that thedeal's gone bad, save yourselves.

Some of you may ask "Why not just cancel the 15 second wait, treating the vehicle/creature generation as if it was in a city or camp?"

Good question. But, I think that the "Run ---> Ride" method adds a tad more risk.

- you could fail this "roll" leaving your vehicle/mountout and open to attack at the location you made the command. You wouldn't know if it succeeded or failed until you got a message well into your Burst Run(could be 30m - 40m away by that time). And you'd STILL be charged HAM as if it was a success! I like the extra risk, but some may think it's too high a cost.

Plus, this way would just look damn slicker!

Why does this fit into the Smuggler ideal ?

We are (or should be) experts in the "quick getaway" due to the risk ridden business we chose. I like to slug it out as much as the next guy, but my vision of Smuggler is a "Pop 3 & Flee" type of guy (/lowblow;/lastditch;/panicshot;/burstride). *target on the ground trying not to puke, watching your Swoop jets spark/creature mount dust*

As for other professions that I think this would fit into: (bear with me here, I have NO Commando/Ranger experience)

Commando - adds a "hit & run" element to a profession whose name suggests it.

- Except that they would be able to do itoffensively (solo or grouped; they are a more powerful class so they could weather the HAM costs better, conceivably).

- they could do it without being in combat. Quick insertion, heavy damage, & quick extraction from the battle. Commando style.

Ranger - same as Commando (Special Forces prejudice here? ) , but with some obvious differences in combat impact perhaps. This is where I'd ask for more inputfrom the Ranger Forum where I plan to re-post. As I said, I'm weak in non-Smuggler stuff.

Just another idea that'll probably never make it off this Forum

But, it gave me a chancefor creativity to balance out some of theanxiety overother recent posts.

What do you all think?

The first posting (03-28-04) lived a short life on the forum with a couple positive replies. Perhaps it'll find new life with those that liked your idea.

hey thanks for your input guys. i really want to put my 2 cents in and hope i get heard. i guess the idea i have in my head is me getting a mission on one of you, then me finding you, and then you guys send me on wild chase all over the galaxie. i DONT want to have happen, that i get a mission then find you and start shotting you and you cant get away, that you HAVE to fight. not all smugglers want to fight, some would rather use there brains and get out, and i think alot of smugglers wouldnt mind a speeder chase through the woods, or a space shuttle chase through an astroid field. ok well i think i have said enough in your guys forums ill go back to my BH land now, im just having fun with you scum.

For this idea to be fully effective they need to make it so we can do combat from vehicles, other wise theres not much point in chasing.

good idea. Too bad Force Sensetivity skill tree will have some sort of Vehicle Control skills. Wanna bet that "Burst Ride" is there already? And if it's not, Devs have already prepared an explanation why it is a game-braking feature?

Smuggler's don't need ability to get away better than most. We need to do what the name says -- to smuggle. Recently I've noticed that way too many people been getting off-track, brain washed by promises of brighter feature by Devs. Get a reality check, people. Go see what kind of Revamp DEs got.

I like this idea guys but to keep it "balanced" how about the vehicle takes X% damage when you do this, also make it a Master skill so that not everyone and their dog will just get novice for this skill.
