I was thinking, as a smuggler, we're supposed to be walking a fine line between right and wrong. Sure we do good and noble acts if the price nis right, but we also partake of underhanded deeds if the opportunity arises.
Why would we not be able to lift stuff off of others? Basically what I'm suggesting si we get a slight of hand or pickpocket skill that allows us to "lift items or credits off of NPC's". Of course we have a chance of failing and getting attacked, but it would seem only natural for a smuggler to have these skills.
At any rate, that's my 2 credits worth for now.

Well.. I think the answer you are most likely to get in this forum is this:
We are Smugglers, not Pickpockets.

Seems to me we're people who are willing to skirt the law and pursue anything that lets us get ahead or get the better of others. And lifting a keycard, a few creds, or a nice pistol powerup from some dumb imp NPC sounds like a good idea to me.

Yep. This idea has been passed around more times than Willie Nelson's bong.
Thing is, like the man said, we're smuggler's not thieves. Secondly, I mean honestly, think about how un-fun the balance issues will make this. A) it'd ONLY be on NPC's. Stealing from Players=HUGE No-No. B) that means that it'll have the same loot table structures as containers and loot and everything else. Great. More CDEF pistols and fistfuls of credits.
Yeah, it's been suggested before, but there's a reason why it's not on any of our "addition" lists.
Keep the ideas coming though!
