Finally - I've given up on the hologrind. No more for me! I've decided to become a full time smuggler. I love to roleplay as a smuggler - especially when I'm slicing things. I like to tear apart guns and watch the faint look upon it's owner's face as I yank out wires and replace them in a seemingly randome order. I'm not sure how I could roleplay slicing armor though, what am I supposed to do? Make it less encumbersome by cutting holes in it with my laser knifes? Really, got any ideas? I'm stuck on this one.

I like the idea of slicing of some excessive composite fibre.

Base effectiveness are more difficult . The best thing are to cut wires on a stone knife .

YaY! Good for you! There's a Support Group starting up I hear.

Me too. My favorite RP interaction.

As far as a Roleplay translation for Slicing Armor, I got inspiration from the electric heating elements between some window glass panes (car, home, aircraft, etc.) and other thermo-morphic solids and semi-solids. Your car's Defrost system is one example. Thoseelementsare designed to conductenergy to solids so maybe they could (in Sci Fi) absorb energy also (as in your Armor Resist Types).

As a Slicer then, you would be perhaps rearranging those "Energy Absorption" element wires to dissipate more energy than what the "factory specifications" and {insert Imperial Bureau here}would allow. (no cutting holes necessary ).

More energy absorbed by the armor can either mean:

-more Base Effectiveness when the armor is actually being tested in combat, or

- less Encumberance because the Slicer rearranged the "absorption elements" to be less bulky.

(it's random because it's not an exact science)

You could then write some Talk Macros to express your "remove and rework" actions as you slice. Not much different from your "yanking out wires" for gun slices. Gives your customer Player something to do while you're working and gives a feel of immersion! YaY immersion! The rest is up to your imagination!

Heh, yes my imagination works overtime every now and then. I was inspired by those old Marvel Universe manuals waaaayyy back in the day. How they took the time to try and explain how a sci-fi device could work. Pretty slick.

For Kinetic damage, there's even an interesting real life technology being tested that uses a bullet's own kinetic energy to "rotate" the armor fibers into a stonger collective position so quickly that it pushes back against the bullet! "That's weird wild stuff" as Johnny Carson used to say.

Respect,

Keer Tregga, spreadin' the Role Play virus to yo' town, kid!
