You know when you look at an item, you get the creator's name and the owner's name. And you often look down at the bottom and see "This item was sliced by a smuggler...." or something like that.
What do you think of having the smuggler's name inserted in there? I think that would be cool and a nice way for more RP-oriented smugglers (read: those not spamming in Coronet) to advertise their skills. Now I realize that in "real life" someone doing such illegal work wouldn't want their names on the object. But if that concerns you so much, you can always pretend its in a secret code or something that law-enforcement agencies just don't understand--like the Jawa language.
I think it would be nice--what do you think?

I think for the very reason you mentioned, the name of the smuggler who sliced a weapon shouldn't be placed on the weapon. It would be the equivilant of robbing a bank and then spraypainting your name on the floor before you left hoping the police don't find out who did it. The truth is, to roleplay a smuggler, you probably shouldn't even dawn a title that refers to smuggling. RPing smugglers in my opinion, should bring as little to themselves as possible. RPing smugglerscould and domake a lot of money slicing through deals with weaponsmiths and armorsmiths and some make the weapons themselves.

I seldom wear my title--in fact, haven't since I first made master. Mostly because it seems a little silly and also because I don't want to have to deal with all the slicees, really.
Basically, ina real world, none of this would work the way it does in a game (I think using that rationale is therefore more than a little bogus), so I think it's fine to have a smuggler's name on sliced equipment. But judging from the responses (one negative one so far), I think I must be alone in that line of thinking.

I wear my Title all the time.. My Businessman Title that is. I even own a Legit Business.. and I have the License to prove it..
Course the door to the back room is locked.. and the freight haulers sometimes forget to stop throught customs... but sometimes slip-ups can't be avoided ya know?

I don't want to have my name on them really, although, I can see how this might get us return customers, "What was that smuggler's name that sliced my weapon *examines the weapon* Oh yeah!"... but, from a roleplaying standpoint, no smuggler would put their name on their work, for the above reasons.

Well, I just think if you're a role-playing smuggler, you probably want the name left off the item. If you're a power gamer looking for xp, then you may want it on.

I'm not exactly how to feel about this. Sure, I'd love to have a little fame from my buisiness, but if we get the bounties on us, then a bh wearing a scout tag will just contact us to slice all kinds of stuff till he has us right where he wants us. At that point, I won't want to have my name on everything I touch.

Heh--I'd love that! First, I don't think a BH is necessarily going to win, and second, even if he kills me, I clone, and he's given me most if not more than his bounty in slicing fees
Now that's a smuggler's delight.
I'm not at all sure what it would have to do with powergaming as one poster above suggested. The fastest way to do a lot of slicing business is to wear that smuggler tag and stand around shouting in Coronet. After all, few people get to examine someone else's equipment except for the person who already knows that you did the slice for them.
Oh, well--it was just an idea. Thanks for your responses, all!

Oh ya i would definately scratch my name on the bottom of a blaster...leave my "mark" for an outstanding weopon.
And to add to that...we could even have our name replace the creators...
I'm all about roleplaying...and everyone roleplays diffrently. I want a reputation.
GIVE IT TO ME!!!!
