Something just occurred to me after hitting master smuggler last night....and yes I know slicing is random

What IF:

There was a chance for an 'uber' slice (up to 50% perhaps) and..

A master smuggler COULD choose WHAT to slice

but ONLY if they used their finely tuned intuitionwhen slicing- i.e were not allowed to choose if they used flow analyzers or molecular clamps.

As a result they would have a 50/50 chance of getting the 'type' of slice they wanted at an higher percentage (although not necessarily). They would also have a 50/50 chance of failing totally and making the item unsliceable...

Seems like the uncertainty may be a fair exchange/balance...

Of course I could just be in another one of my cracked out hallucinogenic phases...

The idea of choosing the slice has floated around for a while.... so has experimentation.... so has 'quality of tools' making a difference.

I don't think the game needs a 50% uber-slice added to it. The game is already out of balance enough without adding even more powerful weapons.

Just my 2 cred.

personally i dont like the idea, and if it was put in i would never do it. how would you like ot be responsible for ruining a lot of stuff. even though they would know in advance, i wouldnt do it.to much chances for greif and whinning, you ruined this, you owe me money, blah blah blah. wouldnt be worth it.

A master smuggler COULD choose WHAT to slice - it would throw balance in combatway off. 90% of the population for good or bad want damage slices and a 50% and up slice might make a weapon just a weeee bit over the top.

but ONLY if they used their finely tuned intuitionwhen slicing- i.e were not allowed to choose if they used flow analyzers or molecular clamps. - lol do you have any idea how pissed a player would be if you sliced the wrong wire and ruined any chance for another slice on some uber krayt rifle?

Seems like the uncertainty may be a fair exchange/balance... - no its uber/grief

It's not a good idea giving us the ablity to pick a slice and the % cap is there for a reason (ask the dev's about it cause Im not good with the game math, lol ). So while its nice in concept it's really not a practical option.

Basically what you're asking is would customers want to roll the dice with their weapon for a chance at an uber slice vs. the MUCH larger probability of a ruined weapon.

Since slicing is NOT smuggling, and most of us would like to see actual smuggling as the mainstay of the profession, I can't see how this enhances our profession all that much.
