How exactly does this ability work? I am a rebel, and I walked up to an imperial recruiter near some imperial mission termials. When I selected converse, the only option i got, was to 'Stop Conversing'. Is this a bug, or am I doing something wrong?

Well heres the problem--and a problem with sellout---you cant sell out to the imps unless you neutral. If you are any faction, even covert, it doesnt give you the option to sellout your points to the opposing faction. Sound broke? Welcome to the Underworld tree.

Ok I just realized that we have the ablity to sell faction points. Has any tried "Sellout" does it work? I've never used it.

Well according to the "sellout" box it's selling faction points.

It says Smugglers can sell faction points to other opposing factions for credits.

Like reb faction to an Imperial faction recruiter for cash.

Never tried it wanted to see if it works.

Oh.. my bad.. never realized the box was labeled that way!

Yes it works... See DrevenStrobes Guide to Selling Faction somewhere up in the Sticky posts.

Rebels can sell to rebels, Imps to imps.

Brief rundown:

-- You are the "go-between". You cant buy very many for yourself.

-- You have to go Overt to do it.

-- Recruiter sells you 125 FP at a time for 10,000 credits each.

-- You can't buy more from him if you already have more than 500 FP.

This keeps you from buying for yourself.

-- So you must buy up to 500, then use the /delegate command to give them to someone else.

-- Any FP that you already have (from hunting enemies) can be delegated.

So a typical FP Sales Session goes like this:

-- You and Buyer go to a recruiter.

-- BUYER PAYS UP FRONT - YOU NEED THE MONEY TO BUY THE FP.

-- You go Overt. If you suspect the transaction will take less than an hour, you can immediately request to go Covert again. Since it takes an Hour before the Covert kicks back in, you have an hour of "overtness" to sell FP. Or you can wait until after the deal before requesting Covert status from the recruiter.

-- You first delegate any faction you currently have to the buyer: /delegate fred 3200

-- You buy 4 sets of 125 FP from the recruiter for 10K each (40K total). You now have 500.

-- Recruiter refuses to sell you more.

-- You delegate 500 to buyer,

-- rinse repeat.

Now the BIG KICKER:You do not get to delegate 100% of anyFP you have to the buyer. There are COSTS involved that depend totally on your RANK in your faction. The lower the rank, the more FP comes out of the deal. You do NOT want to do a deal if you are of LOW rank, or unless your buyer is filthy rich and willing to pay for the overhead.

FOR EXAMPLE: The "overhead" for a Seargeant is 3:1. It costs THREE FP to give the buyer 1. So if you have 500 FP, you can only delegate 1/3rd of that to the buyer and the rest is "burned up" in the deal. So you buy 500 FP for 40K, you are only able to give the buyer 167 of that. Is your buyer willing to pay you 40K for every 167 FP? and that is with NO profit.

Now the "overhead" for a Colonel is 1.18 to 1. So it takes me only 118 FP (I am colonel) to give buyer 100 FP.

If you plan on using a macro to delegate faction be careful about going covert.. it changes the prompts and can mess up the macro..

Sellout is the abillity to sell faction points to the opposing recruiter.

A month or so ago, I got the craaaazy idea that I wanted loot only available in Imperial quests, so I gave up my Colonel ranking and "sold out" my remaining FP to become a goose-stepping space nazi (for 2 days). You can only "sell out" if you are neutral, and then you can only "sell out" 25 FP at a time, and the return is usually pretty crappy (like a couple hundred creds for 25 FP, or sometimes the recruiter just yells at you and gives you nothing). As it was, I earned maybe 2000 credits for selling out, and it cost me 400,000 to get rid of my negative Imp faction... I was careful not to kill many rebels so it only cost me 40,000 to return to the light side... darn that grind to colonel again was not very amusing, but the sound stormtroopers' helmets make when you crack them open is very satisfying
