Well, I glanced at the thread... didn't feel like reading the whole thing... so I might get blasted for this.

Basically, as I understood it, the guy was saying armor is way too powerful and needs to be rolled back, and that slicing shouldnt do major increase to it. I agree with the first part. I think super armor, super buffs, and super foods have taken a lot from this game. About the slicing, I don't think it would need to change. A 35% slice to 30% armor leaves it atonly around 41%, so thats not so bad. But I go get good armor, top buffs, and BE food and drink, and then I go STAND THERE in the midst of FIVE enraged rancors spamming rifle shots til they're dead and I may have lost 1/3 of my health. Thats fun for about 5 minutes.

Is itrealistic to expect a change? Absolutely not. You can't "roll back the clock". The damage has been done and I don't think it can be undone without a Galactic Revolution (pun intended). So if I was addressing the issue you were talking about, I don't think the guy is a moron at all... unless he actually expects it to change.

Again, if I missed the point of yours or his thread, my apologies... I HAVE done that lately!

I see many people walking around in 90% armor, buffs, and synthisteak to obsorb even more damage.

SOE, can you start at one thing at a time? For now, put armor back to levels they were intended to be at. 50% capped out, 60% slicing cap. Even reducing armor's effectiveness 30% TODAY will go a long way to combat balance.

So, what they're saying is a cap on resist to 50%, which can only be increased to 60% with slicing. Let me see, this would be a effectiveness slice of 20%, right?

Well, if it's for the good of the game, why not take something more from smugglers?

Oh my, I think I've finally mastered Cynic....now where's a trainer?

Problem with that thread is its saying just reduce armor resists, maybe armour resists are to high but its not the only factor.

Most of those calls for 'nerfs' are from people who lose in PVP. But they just count the armour as the problem.

Well I see it differently, to me it is not just the one item that is the problem.

For instance in PVE with pistol used to hit around 1K - 2K with last ditch, now in PVP its around 20

why ?

Armour resists + doctor buffs + food buffs + 75% PVP reduction = low damage hitting someone with 3K hams

So armour is notthe only problem, sure reducing slicing and armour will allow you to do more damage, but it still wont fix the problem that you are trying to wipe out a 3k plus ham bar, even with no armour you would still be doing less damage than the buffed player is regenerating.

Most of these people should try fighting unbuffed, and see how well they do, without the doc buffs their specials and armour will kill them before the enemy can.

So the question is, is the armour the problem or is it a combination of doc and food buffs and armour.

Hopefully the combat balance (if it exists) will reduce all of them, high resists on armour is not really the problem.

I use doc buffs a lot now, in PVE, cause it means I can solo bright red con stuff at point blank range without armour. If I try it without doc buffs and armour alone, I am dead in less than 5 to 10 seconds. So is armour really the only problem.

Plus slicing on armour is never guarenteed to be max slice on resists, its still random unless it got changed recently. And even if its only a 15% slicethe armour isstill 15% above what it was to start with.

So the answer is "It's a combination of all of them". I whole-heartedly agree with you.

I've posted this elsewhere, but can you imagine the wide range of new missions possible if they make it so you can actually DIE going out in the wilderness. And I firmly believe there are areas you should NOT be able to take your bike.

This is the kind of content I would have if I were king:
-- You go to a mission terminal (could be profession-specific)
--"There is a downed pilot at location x y who is carrying the schematic for the rebellion's new MOB-buster pistol. Take a rescue team and bring him back alive." You would get money and the schematic (or whatever).
-- So you look at your map and see that he's way out in the middle of nowhere. You can only bike part way, then it's on foot over dangerous terrain for a while.
-- Dangerous MOBs spawn around him.
-- You realize you have to get your two best friends, JoeMelee and Linda DocMaster to go with you to have any chance to reach him.
Or maybe you don't even get coordinates, but you get one of those detection devices like at the Village and you have to find him.

High risk, high reward!

/daydream off

Sorry... I was kindo of rambling there.....
