I'm thinking the revamp is gonna be great, but I'm not sure if I can wait for it. I'm thinking of dropping smuggler, as all I really use it for is slicing armor, and it takes up lots of skill points that I could really use elsewhere. I don't want to have to grind it back after the expansion, but I want to have a little bit of combat skills so I can kill faction flags, as right now it takes forever.
Ugh, how can I get more skill points? Someone tell me it's gonna be ok, or give recommendations? This is driving me nuts....

This is a struggle I am going through myself. I am holding onto the hope that the revamp will make me viable, but in the meantime I have all these skillpoints being used for things that really don't get me a good return on my investment. I'm proud to be a smuggler, but somedays, its hard to look at my skills list and see 14 points in underworld (I don't sell faction, and if I even did, I have heard that no one is purchasing anymore), 14 points in slicing (I don't publicly slice anymore - too much of a hassle and it got worse with the autopull thing), and 14 points in spices (which don't sell anymore, courtesy to the chef revamp and the spice downer nerf). That's 43 points right there (I would have to drop master so I would get that point back as well) I could use somewhere else, like in doctor, or TK, or pistoleer (which is another broken class), or....
But smuggler was the ONE class I wanted to play when I got into SWG. The first thing I said was "what do I need to do to become a smuggler?" since I was looking through the manual and saw it was listed as a profession. It took me a few months to get to master, but I did it. And since I attained the master box, I've witnessed hit after hit after hit to our already under-developed profession, and after over a year, well - it kinda saps the life outta ya. You start to wonder if they will ever fix it, or if they are bent on just taking the profession out of the game.
If you feel that there are other things that you would rather try, then one thing you could do would be to stock up on the materials needed to regrind smuggler later (locked containers, knives, mol clamps, the resources to make all the spice, and a couple of good pistols, and the money to pay for training in case you are the only person left in the world on your server that even knows about smuggler), and then play with your template until such time that you feel like coming back.
Or you could just be stubborn like I am and not let those morons making the decisions push you out of the one profession you love above all others.
Best of luck whatever you decide to do.

royalewitcheez.... love that name! Maybe I'll name my alt "pigisafilthyanimal"!
Seriously though, I wouldn't hang on to smuggler just for the revamp. If that is the only reason for keeping it, drop it.
As of today, there is no reason you can't re-master in one week if you really want (I guess that could change after the combat rebalance).

I'm hanging on to Smuggler because of the YT1300. I can't wait to fly that ship

The good thing is that if you drop slicing you'll still have enough slicing xp that you won't have to ever look at another locked container again. Ever.

I understand your delima. I dropped. I am having a lot more fun with my pistols template, but there is a big hole in my game/life/career where smuggler used to be....It's a hard choice.

I bought the game to be a smuggler, for me to drop it would make my in game life horribly boring (course having 2 alts helps me stave off ever thinking of dropping smuggler
)

I was feeling exactly the same , had been smuggles for11 months , eventually dropped and done a few other profs .
1 month later im back as a smuggler lol missed it too much...something about being a smuggler specially a guild smuggler..that makesour nerfed proffesion fun .
The only difference is i dropped master pistols and took master swordsman/brawler a few more sp used but a much better combat prof. But at the end of the day i love pistols and we should be pistoleers in a smuggler role , lets hope the revamp will sort us out...

Yeah I mastered Smuggler, at first I did alot of pub slicing, but then business died, so now I just grind my other professions.

I have been far too indesicive about it in the past.
I just mastered smuggler again, for the 7th (!) time.
Yes, on the same server.
I think since I keep coming back to this profession... maybe I'll go ahead and keep it this time.
