In the Loot Pass #1 (In Development board) there is a link titled These items are what players can expect on the first pass of loot game changes ( http://starwarsgalaxies.station.sony.com/content.jsp?page=Loot%20Revamp%20-%20Pass%201 )
that mentions the possibility of higher level creature harvesters being able to extract things could enhance spices or foods.
Honestly folks, I think all the recent posts by the Devs are telling us why the revamp is pushed. They're trying to address everyone at once, and in the process have downgraded our revamp. I'm not saying that we won't get any specific attention, yet, I'm saying that they're trying to add all these changes before they hit us. (As a note, I don't think the mentioned changes will effect the dead spice market one bit.)
This may also be why they think they can group us with other professions in one publish. If there were only 2 trees that remained to be addressed (Slicing and Underworld) because the CU had already addressed Dirty Fighting, and the loot revamp (in their opinion) addressed the spices, they wouldn't have as much to put out at that time.
Sadly, there is one telling fact that I see in it. We're still going to be crafting spice. Whether or not there is some "looted" or "skimmed from a smuggler mission" addition such as glitterstim could still be open, but I'm not sure they've taken into account all the proposals for the smuggler revamp with regards to spice and what they plan to do with the loot revamp.

Hmm. If they were wise, they would let this enhancer be used to cut spice after it's already been created, so that whether it's low-level crafted stuff or high-level skimmed/stolen stuff, it has a use. Assuming, of course, there is such a thing as skimmed/stolen spice in the future.
Yeah, either one of those ifs is enough to get you laughing, though.

I would like to see a situation where smugglers refine spice and not manufacture it per se. It would be cool to see master smugglers having to go to Kessel to get the raw material for high end spice then going home to refine and sell it. And by refine I mean use it as a maijor component in some formula that makes several kinds of spice depending on the add mixtures.

Just bumping this to see what everyone else thought of it and what it means to us...
aahhh hell... I'm sick of guessing and speculating... just give us a revamp already lol.
Seriously though, you got any additional info yet Wes?

When I read it, I noticed that they mentioned the loot item increasing the downtime associated with the spice, but they didn't seem to mention the upside. I think that means that they haven't pinned down exactly what they want to do with spices.
Buffs and foods will be affected by the loot upgrade, and they've specifically been mentioned as part of the combat upgrade as well. However, nothing was said about spices. I don't know if that's an oversight or not, but it's likely that spices will be at least partially revamped prior to the actual class revamp.

It would be nice to see at least some spice changes. I have all my crates of spices at 100cr now on my vendor as I simply can't sell the otherwise, say two or three crates a month. Some hardcore PvPers use spice but not enough to justify the maint on the vendor...
AUK's WUK's clamps etc sell nicely though..
