I have no problem with the idea of better loot. Most of what is dropped I end up destoring anyway so better stuff would be nice. But, what I want is a better understanding in the notes of how this will work before it starts. The last upgrade bummed me out. I thought I needed a kit before I could collect the rugs, tables and gongs. So I got my kit, now I need that adhesive and I am too cheap and poor to buy it. I am about to start destoring things to help with storeage problems. Therefore, let's do this, but put out any special considerations about repairs or stackability.
I have given up on a smuggler revamp. It is in the too hard box. After all it is clearly a challenge to code things for weapons verses a specific skill, or a spice which gives a real kick. Not to mention have skill/profession only missions. These things are very complex and take a lot of time. Besides what would have to complain about. LOL

I dont know why anyone other than crafters would be happy with a loot revamp.
Since the game has a"Player Economy", any and all decent loot will be used by crafters.
As usual, the crafters profit and the rest of the professions get screwed.
