I think Rob Reiner used that Giant Cantina Rat for the 'ROUS' in "Princess Bride"

And one of the writers from the credits I do recognize. "Bruce Vilanch" was (is still?) one of the "New Hollywood Squares" (see what that special did for his career ).

You've all seen this guyin other TV too, I'll bet. Big chubby guy with glasses,wild mustache & beard. Very "happy type" if you get my drift.

There was also a Richard Pryor special in the '70's where he did a spoof on "Star Wars". Hilarious! He's a waiter in the Mos Eisely Cantina...

*Richard Pryor as waiter* : "Here's your drink, sir."

*Rodian customer bumps into Richard Pryor and makes him spill his drink! Rodian says something in "alien-ese" *

*Pryor* : " What do you mean you didn't see me! You got the biggest eyes in the place! "

It's gotta be somewhere on the 'net! I gotta find that one.

Personally, I think he cameoed as the giant rat in the Star Wars Special.

And Pat Proft went on to write for all the Naked Gun and Hot Shots flicks (and unfortunately, Police Academy, which is more in line with the Star Wars Holiday Special):

What can we learn?

That Leia was a huge spice fiend (Carrie Fisher was high as **edit** when she made that).

That GL wants all copies of that destroyed.

That it was made before the scope of the movie's popularity was known (I mean the millenium falcon is literally a black backdrop and couple of milk crates)

That not all wookiees are cute (Chewie's family looks like moth-eaten carpets...cuz they are)

Oh and for MORE SW holiday fun, try and find a copy of The Star Wars Holiday Album...absolutely HILARIOUS!!! With tracks like, "What to Get a Wookiee for Christmas (When He already Has a Comb)" and featuring...somewhere in the background....JON BON JOVI! he's on the liner notes under his real name which is like John Bongiovi or whatever)

Wth! Nomad... I dont ever wanna see that again... and no, I am not hugging any wookiee!

Here's another one from George Lucas' Secret Vault of Star Wars Atrocities, this 1980 edition of The Muppet Show, starring Mark Hamill! Now, unlike the Holiday Special, this one's bad in a cute sorta way. In other words, you probably won't want to blow your head off after you watch it. But you still should have a pretty decent sized headache...

Interesting side note:

First day of beta 1. I created a huge, white wookiee. I punched all the sliders up to the maximum.

When he entered into game...there was a bug that made me as tall as the tallest rodian. So I was this really small, chubby wookiee running around.

Shug Ninx saw me and refered to me as Lumpy (chewbacca's nephew) for the rest of beta 1.

And I liked the Muppet show one! It was, well...the muppets! You don't expect it to be serious!

So totally true. You can't Knock Muppets. Heck, half of eps. 4-6 have a muppet as a main character somewhere! (sure not the kermit the frog kind, but Salacious, Jabba, Yoda, the Sarlacc, all puppets, all probably created with Hensen's help I would wager)

Muppets do, in fact, rock in a weird sort of way. I just watched The Great Muppet Caper for the first time in 12 or so years, and I have to say that it's actually still a pretty funny movie.

As for what I learned from that God-awful Holiday Special? Hmm...Han Solo should have known that Feign Death has some use after all.
