I dunno if this is old news, but it just occurred to me. I'm slow, ok ok...
Slicing. We gripe and moan about what people want to pay, about their ignorance, about their punkishness sometimes when we do it. It occurs to me that smugglers could have some of the best weapons in the game if we never sold a slice. I think it is too late to undo the damage but think about it. If we never whored ourselves out, if we never became community slice monkeys...we could have the strongest and fastest pistols (or insert your weapon of choice) in the entire game. <heheheh...i said insert> We could be stronger than we are.
But we whored out our strength to the masses. And we can probably never get it back. I mean, I make more money doing missions on Dath or Dant than I could slicing. It's decent money, but it would be much more valuable to me if I could have strong weapons just for myself...and maybe a select few. Or those who could pay BIG bucks. But we hooked it away for pennies in the beginning. Now it is gone.
Slicing could have been for us... But in typical smuggler fasion we weakened ourselves for the almighty credit....for the fast credit... <sigh>
Oh well...on we go.

I don't slice anymore - not publically, anyway. The money just isn't there. I hunt exclusively on one planet, with my partner in crime, and the loot we get more than makes up for the "loss" I take in not slicing. Frankly, if I would stand around slicing, I'd lose money since I'm not out hunting.
Really, its a shame that 2 skills we have in our tree are so totally useless, and one of them is due to another professions revamp. And don't misunderstand, I don't blame the chefs, I blame the devs for not seeing that impact and revamping all consumables at the same time so no one felt the pinch. But NO - smugglers don't really matter, do we.

Exactly, while I don't to a ton of hunting on my smuggler main character joras if I need to make money I use my melle stacker alt. A small group of friends and I hunt high level loot and as Shrendyc said, it more than pays the bills. For example the 800+ damage LVA I looted off a NS got a 26% damage slice and is now +1000 damage. I will prally get a little over 10 million for it. Slicing's just not worth the hassle. With my new way of making creds I get to kill to get my paycheck, something I wanted to do with slicing but was not able to! lol

That is a damn good idea to ask for the dev.
A sliced weapon requires to be smuggler to be useable at a certif level !
Then the damage are undone.
But if such a patch occures, a popup window should ask player to undo slice on weapon they want to keep if they are not smuggler.

Can't undo the damage. Not unless they make it so only smugglers can USE them. Do you know how many weponsmith/smugglers there are? hehe, they'd just up their prices to everyone else, and more would convert to jump on the cash wagon.

Errr much I can say, but am not allowed...damn.
In any case I disagree. It was never a teneable idea. I know I'd rather have the millions I've made from slicing than a couple of guns that shoot faster or harder than everyone elses (unless I could sell those guns for a LOT more money). Not everybody wants to be able to kill faster and better.

Honestly, if we restricted slicing only to a Smuggler's Own weapons, or even a special smuggler's slice, it would probably force determined players to spend a day picking up smuggler to do some serious slicing - and then drop it when they're done. You can never limit anything in an MMO by time or experience 
Weapon/Armor Slicing, Spice Craftingand Underworld need to be done away with. None of these encompass anything a smuggler actually does.
How the heck does anyone slice a wooden staff anyway.. It never made sense
