It's a damned shame. Everything you stated was 100% true. I wish SOE and Lucasarts would get on the ball and fix this game.

The seas are rough,
The time does pass,
You ride the tide,
You dream of your lass,
To sail the darkness,
The stars enlighten the view,
Your compass does spin,
It no longer guides you,
Ahoy to the shore,
You mission is set,
The life of a pirate,
You'll never forget,
We move on in life,
Our next adventure new,
You'll remember your brothers,
In all that you do,
You hang up your sword,
And tip your hat with a smile,
It's been good to know you,
And be here a while.
Ahoy Smugglers, brothers, friends, comrades,
It is with a heavy heart that I have decided to finally pull up anchor and head for another shore in my gaming life. I have been playing SWG since August 2, 2003. A very long time for a game. I have met so many wonderful people, have been a member of three guilds, have been Imperial, neutral and Rebel. Have been a businessman, a combat type, an entertainer, a crafter.
Over the past few months, my desire to play the game has been whittled away by various issues regarding game mechanics, the fact that most of my longterm friends have gone off to play other games, or that I have had little time to play because I have a 9 month old baby.
This week, SOE mailed me 3 times to tell me my account was about to be deactivated because my card was invalid. I reported it, so did many others, and all we have received since yesterday was a message saying it has been reported by a TSR in the Tech Support forum. No other messages by SOE, no "We're sorry", no explanation. 1 2 3
My issues with the game and dwindling friend's list have been great, and yet I have still stayed and played long beyond the point of enjoyment, for the simple reason I was hoping things would change. Then this credit card billing glitch comes. What worries me most with it is that if I can't trust them to correctly bill me and not think my card is invalid, how can I trust them to bill me for the correct subscription, and not bill me for a 5 year subscription, or bill me for buying EQ2 which I didn't buy? SOE has such a wonderful chance with SWG to make such a wonderful product and they have dropped the ball. The customer support is sub standard (Tiggs spends more time in GAT pouncing her cult followers than answering questions to players about game issues), the product is buggy and incomplete.
I've come to the end of my rope, and some time in the next few days, I will be closing my account and walking away from SOE and SWG. I want to thank the Smugglers for providing me enough motivation and patience to help me last this long. This is a wonderful community of people who seemingly can put up with anything and walk away with a smile. You are great people. But people do not make me pay to play this game.
I wish you all well, and bid you ahoy.
