Thread: I made the Kessel run in .12 parsecs

I believe I have acheieved the fastest possbile speedin myYT-1300 The "Black Widow".9for the current time)
I just Hit a top speed of 1672!with boosters and everything....
and I didnt think I could get it past 1200 two months ago...

The only thing that confuses me with that line.
A parsec is a unit of measurement. One would assume the "Kessel run" is an actual course or navigation route one needs to take to qualify.
That's like saying "I completed the 400m sprint in 330m!!!"

A recent RPG book detailed the Kessel Run.
Basicly, You're making deliveries to ships that are flying in differnt directions, while avoiding the local authorities. So, if you're doing it in a short distance, you're damn good.
Other explinations is the Maw is close to Kessel, and the "Kessel run" goes near the Maw, which is a cluster of black holes.
Doing it in a short distance means you're a damn good pilot, or insane.

Actually, while that is one *theory* as to why it's measured in parsecs(another being that in skimming around the Maw, the closer you cut it to the event horizons, the shorter the distance is), George Lucus has stated in answering this question that Han was trying to BS a couple of dustball moisture-farmer yokels(Luke and Obi-Wan). In fact, after hearing this answer, and watching that scene again, Obi-Wan appears to have a distinctly amused expression in regards to Solo's claim of 12 parsecs. This is apparently even in the script.
He're the official data entry on the topic. Last paragraph. It also discusses other explanations of the measurement.

Also, Apollyon, as a MSW, I'm about 95% sure I can get a YT to move faster, though i favor a Nova, myself.
After they fix the elite engine resource weighting, I think I can *guarantee* a faster boat, in fact.

Hiya, Master SW/Master/Smuggler here...1600? hehe my YT-1300does that at booster speed WITHOUT the overload 4 chip you should see it go with it active! WHEEEEEEE...though don't try turning

Interesting... I dont doubt that was the original intent. It sounds like Han.
Another interesting point to note is that in later books they've perhaps misinterpreted this, and have tried to give a detailed explanation of Han's Kessel run (Around the time they find the Maw Installation)...
(of course i realize that the books dont always get their facts straight

I always thought he wasn't faking, the theory I had was that the kessel run was a spice trading route between kessel and toydaria, where the hutts fenced the spice. I pictured the route as a curve, following the curve would take say, sixteen parsecs, but to cut closer to the maw, which the trade run skirts, would cut time off of your run, by decreasing distance.So to do thekesselrun in twelve parsecs, just means cutting your routeto less of a curve.Going closer than reccomended to a cluster of black holes would of course require an excellent pilot, but even if solo didn't do it, the question remains. what is he talking about?

The Kessel run is a real course, smuggler use it because the danger of flying so close to the Maw (dozens of black holes are not fun).
Its later said that the same time han broke that record... he dumped the cargo that would ultimatly be the cause of him taking Luke and obi to alderaan.

I just recently hit a speed of 1735....on my server.....give me a better engine, and Im sure I will go faster
