Fellow Scoundrels, Ruffians, Slicers, and other Outlaws:
I come to you with a tale that begins in July of 2003, when a company dared to release a game promising all of the social and achievement oriented gameplay that had made Everquest famous, set in the incomparable Star Wars universe. I ran out and purchased the game at the earliest possible opportunity. I was enamored. I played day and night for weeks, grinding out skills and meeting wonderful people, to whom I would sell various controlled substances. I was a smuggler, and life was good.
Slowly, though, I came to realize that there just wasn't that much to do in the (I had thought) limitless Star Wars universe. I left for a time. I flitted from MMOG to MMOG, trying my hand at wizardry, hacking, asteroid mining, pirating, and kung-fu. But I remained a smuggler at heart. I always knew that eventually I would be back. And then the Combat Upgrade arrived, and with it, a renewal of the promises made to smugglers back even before I had left.
Again, I purchased a box and delved into the universe. A new character on a new server, but still the same scoundrel. And as I was grinding my way back to Master Smuggler, I found the Smuggler forums. This is my first post here, after more than a month of silent reading and agreement. It saddens me to see so many of you leaving, but after the last few publishes, I can't say that I blame you. But before you go, I wanted to introduce myself to you, as one who has long shared your dreams of smuggling, and wish you happy travels in whatever pursuit you may take up after Galaxies.
