Thread: MBH missions = Smuggler Slice Loot Farming

As the title reads, the new MBH marks are regularly dropping illegal core boosters and delicate trigger assemblies. In the past 6 marks I've gained 4 triggers and 1 core booster.

So, if you're an MBH/Smuggler or have an MBH friend it would appear that MBH marks are now the easiest way to get your high-end smuggler slice loot. No more Krayt hunts.

You know, what really ticks me off about this in a major way is not the fact that smuggler components can be looted off BH marks as such. Rather, it's the relative rarity of the loot drops as compared to the only way a non-BH can get (for example) ICBs - via space.

I have done Black Sun missions since the new components were introduced. To date, my total kill tally is at 823 dead BS ships. From all these, I looted ONE (1) Illegal Core Booster. That's a drop rate of around 0.12%

And now I have to read that the drop rate for BH's is above 50%, a few hundred times higher than mine. That is a friggin insult IMO.

But who knows, maybe they also tweaked the drop rates in space. I haven't done another BS mission since the Publish hit, but I will do so today. And if, at the end of it (which would be 85 kills), I don't walk away with at least 2 or 3 new ICBs (given the time investment, that seems reasonable as compared to BH missions), I will be one p*ssed off smuggler.

I just completed 10 MBH missions and looted:

4 delicate triggers
2 illegal core boosters
2 reactive micro plating
2 CA's
1 BH armour schem

It seems that these missions are spawning a smuggler slice loot 8 times out of 10 with the delicate trigger dropping the most frequently.

Yeh, I brought this up in the corre forum when it was still on TC (a few weeks back now I think)... obviously to no avail.

Sometimes I have the feeling noone reads or answers the Corr-forums threads.

All I know is that when I FINALLY kick this Corvette in the ding ding tonight- I'm gonna take some MBH missions and see what's up before they change the drop rate and mess this up.

Or maybe they don't want slicing to be as rare as it has become and this is how it's supposed to be.

I also feel like an idiot because I have walked around with 3-4 ICBs since the change happened. It's those Hair Trigger things I need.

Anyway- how much does a slice boost anything anyway? I mean, are they really that great?

Whatever the case- Slicing is going to be an arm and a leg if you want me to do it for you.

They probably wanted to put this in the Smuggler missions, but then they remembered there aren't any.

Yeh well, it was GreenMarine's idea to keep the top slices rare.. maybe Blix didn't know/wasn't on the same page.

Anyway, yes, threads to get replied to in the correspondent forum and we're told that all threads posted there are read by a developer; the fact nothing came of it is likely to do with not having time to tweak the loot elsewhere in the game, rather than them not listening (at least that's what I'm hoping ).

I've got it! I know what must have happened! They were working on smuggler missions, like they've said they would for years. They made the NPCs and had them drop slicing components, and then along came Blix or one of the other devs and...

"How many times do we have to tell you... DON'T WORK ON THE SMUGGLER PROFESSION!"

/slap wrist

"Well, we don't want this work to go to waste, lets give it to BH, they don't get enough love anyway"

/evil laugh

"yes... ok... but Finaly crafted tool?"

I've done a good 15-20 missions now and not got any finely crafted tools. It only seems to drop the top-level loot which doesnt include finely crafted tools (they are typicaly lvl2)
