Thread: The war is over for me for now... so what is the word
Well, You got until pub 10 to get that Holofied BH done. That is when the path to Jedi will change and holos will mean naught after that. I'm trying to master swordsman right now for that very same reason (second holo).
Following that pub 11 SHOULD be our revamp- as to what is going to change in that revamp we have NO IDEA- but here are a few things that have been thrown back and forth:
Smuggler Bounties- That's right bounties on smugglers heads
Smuggler Terminals
Player to Player smuggling
Picking your slice at master
Heavier Crackdown at Starports
Mining for spices as well as crafting them
Experiment and recources making a difference on spices
Tool percentages affecting the out come of slices
A Super slice for a smuggler's personal weapon
Masking your faction like Mask Scent
New Melee moves in the dirty fighting tree
Introducing a secret smuggler language
Making language comp. mean something
Defining our profession
Having a sidekick
There's been other stuff mentioned but I'm at work.
...and I didn't even get into the JTL stuff.
Soooooo, Welcome back buddy. Thanks for doing your time.
welcome back!
there may be some new stuff (little stuff) coming in the next patch (that was supost to be when we got our re-vamp, but it's been pushed back). No one knows for sure yet. Also a full smuggler re-vamp is expected for patch 11. Caylan and Geevo are working hard to pull a re-vamp doc togetherfor the dev's to review. This doc is based on the communitys idea's of how we should be re-vamped. That is about it for smuggler atm.
Before this thread starts piling up with "We still don't get love from the devs" posts, I just wanted to comment.
I too, have just returned from a multi-month hiatus from SWG. Although still not a master yet, the smuggler profession is what I've always aspired to in SWG. Upon my return a few days ago, I noticed many changes to both the game and our profession.
Apparently, Panic shot was nerfed. It seems as if the devs wanted panic shot to serve its original description so that it would be used primarily as a method of escaping a difficult situation. So if you attack someone/something while under the panic shot delay, the delay is cancelled upon your attack.
Also, BH's and Smugglers can now use exploding droids. Although I haven't tried one myself, they sound incredibly fun, although it seems as if the smuggler profession is still learning different applications for these. One way people are using these is as a guard in cantinas when selling faction points. Another interesting use for these has been as a complement to the newly nerfed panic shot. The delay from panic shot usually provides enough time for you to send in your droid bomb, thus incurring high dmg with minimal risk to opponents with low blast resistence.
Another change is the smuggler's ability to evade imperial scans for illegal items carried through imp cities. I'm not sure exactly how the percentges work with regards to Master/non-master smugglers skill trees, but many have said that this ability has not yet proved to be very valuable because IMP PCs and anyone who has a droid with a storage module can evade these scans as well. However, a few stories have been posted, describing how helping new players knowingly/unknowingly evade imperial scans has added more of a feeling of smuggler to our overall gameplay. Unfortunately these stories have been few and far between, so I would speculate that, in general, the smuggler community doesn't feel that the imperial crackdown has added enough smuggler content.
There have been other general gameplay changes as well such as the addition of the Genosian Caves, as well as a new mission called Corellian Corvette (of which smugglers play a special role in determine the success of the mission)
All in all, since my departure, I have come back to find both the profession and the game BETTER than when I left last February. I believe that a large reason that I'm very satisfied with being a smuggler since my return, is that I haven't been keeping in touch with SWG news since I left, therefore I had no expectations upon my return. For someone who loved this profession from the very beginning, to me smuggler is fine, and although I am very much looking forward to many of the new proposed changes scheduled for most likely September (or later), I don't feel that these changes are absolutely critical to me having fun as a smuggler today.
My recommendation: Give smuggler another couple weeks before making your decision to change prof's.
Cheers and Best regards,
