So I've decided to becomea smuggler. Why? Because I want to start having fun playing this game again.

I'm sick of the holo grind, I've maxed out my PvP template (TKM/Master Rifle, add a dab o' fencer).....so I asked myself, "Why do I keep playing if I'm not having fun". There's more to this game than grinding away xp. After all, it is a MMORPG, and I have yet to role play, or really get into the multi-player aspect, combat aside.

Smuggler it is. Most of the guys I know think I'm nuts "Oh, they suck in combat" "You'll never make any money!" Blah blah...

....at any rate, I hope to be posting here more, since my server forums have gone to shight as of late.

Good choice...I became a smuggler to 'immerse' in the Star Wars feel....and it works, it's a friggin cool profession even with the needed and upcoming revamp

The smuggler forum is the best community as well...hell, I can't even hang out in the BH forumfor 10 minutesof useful thread reading anymore because of the BH vs. Jedi BS that has practically consumed the entire game...

Good luck, there is content here, make it what you want...you'll meet some interesting people that's for sure and it's pretty decent money...a living anyways, which is what I wanted to get back to back when I became one....while i'm not a huge role-player, I do a little, as it comes easy when you're a smuggler, sizing people up, deciding to cut them a deal on slicing price, etc...lol, you just feel kinda 'underground-cool' ....

I slice a while in Theed, then maybe go buff to do some gurk hunting to level up pistoleer, which I am in absolutely no hurry in mastering...so 2 or 3 missions are about my limit before I go out exploring the things that aren't on the POI list...interesting things that make this feel like a vast, Star Wars Universe with inhabited cities and wild frontiers...then I'll return to Mos Eisley's Lucky Despot to play a little jubilee wheel before logging....sounds a little loopy, I know, but it's my newly-found "SWG-Zen", and it's the most fun I've had since the early months..

Welcome...

You will find that this is one of the best forums around; my Fencer forum has become a l33t fest; so it does my eyes alot of good to come here and actually read things that are helpfu/interesting/ or just plain funny.

Check out the "A chuckle for the Smuggler" thread when you get a chance, good stuff.

Smuggler was my first holocron. Last holocron I ever did. Yay Smugglers!

Pistoleer was my first holocron. I opened it because I got it free before christmas, and had points spare ( I was going carbineer and didnt really enjoy it ). After a few weeks of pistoleering I decided I never wanted to wield any otehr weapon again.

At that point Smuggler made sense. And I haven't looked back.

Hologrinding was a mistake but it did show people other things. The person who realises it's not about grind is a lucky person.

Smuggler was always my first choice profession... though I did do a little side trip into the musician's world, I came back and finished up Smuggler. I started Hologrinding just like everyone else, on my third one I had to do Combat Medic.... Got most of the way through that then realized I had to give up a bit of smuggler to finish it.... I was about to hit enter on the delete screen for my Master Smuggler tag, and I just couldn't bring myself to do it. That ended my Holo career, and that was before they announced they were going to change the way they did it.... to me if it was between Smuggler and Jedi for my primary.... smuggler would win.

There was still a big sigh of relief though when they announced the quest based Jedi...... I loved the concept of what a Smuggler could be too much to give it up.

Actually, I was hoping that smuggler would be a profession people DIDN'T want to play, due to percived lack of development and combat weaknesses. Regardless, I'm enjoying it already

Thanks for the replies!

On a more serious not...welcome to the profession, its LOTS of fun...you just have to make a very confusing and elaborate "Business agreement" that you have people electronically sign when they enter in a trade with you. Just put it in your bio and make them agree to it in order to trade, and just say, that if they trade with you then it is understood that they accept the terms of the agreement. Remember to include stuff like, if you complain your price doubles, if you are rude to me then I will accept the items being sliced as payment in full for the services rendered. Make sure you ONLY take cash in the trade window, and that tips will not be considered a valid form of payment and WILL NOT be refunded under any circumstance.

You would be suprised just how many people will still tip you, and the proper response to a tip is, thank you for your grascious tip, but how are you going to pay for the services rendered...oh you don't have the cash on you, well I'm sure glad that you agreed to the agreement that said if you didn't have the cash on you this set of 90% base composite will be accepted as payment in full, happy hunting my friend! Pleasure doing business with you!

I have only once beencontacted by aCSR, (I have had people tell me they are reporting me several times) then upon telling the CSR that I have screenshots I would be willig to email him of the person agreeing to my slicing terms, and that because he didn't pay attention was no reason for me to be held accountable, I was told that I did not scam this person by the CSR, but to make sure in the future that my customers agreed to the terms of my agreement beforeslicing for them(I always do and I always screenshot them) so I would not be penalized as a scammer in the future.

God I LOVE when stupid people.Theyalso help me finance my free slices for guildmembers and newbs programs.
