Welcome...
You will find that this is one of the best forums around; my Fencer forum has become a l33t fest; so it does my eyes alot of good to come here and actually read things that are helpfu/interesting/ or just plain funny.
Check out the "A chuckle for the Smuggler" thread when you get a chance, good stuff.

Good choice...I became a smuggler to 'immerse' in the Star Wars feel....and it works, it's a friggin cool profession even with the needed and upcoming revamp
The smuggler forum is the best community as well...hell, I can't even hang out in the BH forumfor 10 minutesof useful thread reading anymore because of the BH vs. Jedi BS that has practically consumed the entire game...
Good luck, there is content here, make it what you want...you'll meet some interesting people that's for sure and it's pretty decent money...a living anyways, which is what I wanted to get back to back when I became one....while i'm not a huge role-player, I do a little, as it comes easy when you're a smuggler, sizing people up, deciding to cut them a deal on slicing price, etc...lol, you just feel kinda 'underground-cool' ....
I slice a while in Theed, then maybe go buff to do some gurk hunting to level up pistoleer, which I am in absolutely no hurry in mastering...so 2 or 3 missions are about my limit before I go out exploring the things that aren't on the POI list...interesting things that make this feel like a vast, Star Wars Universe with inhabited cities and wild frontiers...then I'll return to Mos Eisley's Lucky Despot to play a little jubilee wheel before logging....sounds a little loopy, I know, but it's my newly-found "SWG-Zen", and it's the most fun I've had since the early months..

Actually, I was hoping that smuggler would be a profession people DIDN'T want to play, due to percived lack of development and combat weaknesses.
It is...
Regardless, I'm enjoying it already
I told ya

On a more serious not...welcome to the profession, its LOTS of fun...you just have to make a very confusing and elaborate "Business agreement" that you have people electronically sign when they enter in a trade with you. Just put it in your bio and make them agree to it in order to trade, and just say, that if they trade with you then it is understood that they accept the terms of the agreement. Remember to include stuff like, if you complain your price doubles, if you are rude to me then I will accept the items being sliced as payment in full for the services rendered. Make sure you ONLY take cash in the trade window, and that tips will not be considered a valid form of payment and WILL NOT be refunded under any circumstance.
You would be suprised just how many people will still tip you, and the proper response to a tip is, thank you for your grascious tip, but how are you going to pay for the services rendered...oh you don't have the cash on you, well I'm sure glad that you agreed to the agreement that said if you didn't have the cash on you this set of 90% base composite will be accepted as payment in full, happy hunting my friend! Pleasure doing business with you!
I have only once beencontacted by aCSR, (I have had people tell me they are reporting me several times) then upon telling the CSR that I have screenshots I would be willig to email him of the person agreeing to my slicing terms, and that because he didn't pay attention was no reason for me to be held accountable, I was told that I did not scam this person by the CSR, but to make sure in the future that my customers agreed to the terms of my agreement beforeslicing for them(I always do and I always screenshot them) so I would not be penalized as a scammer in the future.
God I LOVE when stupid people.Theyalso help me finance my free slices for guildmembers and newbs programs.
