Thread: Brother Smugglers: How to give sliced items the status they *need*
I'm serious too.
The playerbase take sliced items for granted, we provide a commodity they do not respect anymore, it's not a benefit for them to have their items sliced, it a *requirement*, as has been made evident by reaction pre-crackdown and various wrong-footed, but overall welcomed debate posts by non-smugglers on the board.
I won't pointlessly call for a strike from slicing because as a class we are profiteers, and for every Smuggler striking there will be 2 capitalizing. And it is not my style to tell others how to play, but personally I'm done, I slice for myself from now on.
If my actions cost a player an extra 20 minutes in finding a Master to slice then so be it, maybe they'll apreciate the illegal nature a little more, maybe not.
But unless *we* as smugglers take back the initiative I'll say this, sliced items and spice will never be seen as illegal/contraband by the playerbase in my no-so-honest opinion.

Thats a good idea GeevoMe, you and Lorenzo should start out on Intrepid, claim we have to pay more for our tools due to the crackdown or something like that. I'm all for racketerring the slice game.
Honestly, I have been planning on raising prices again ... but I have been waiting for the Holo-grind to end. Lets hook up in game ... start collecting names of all master smuggler's we know ... and make an agreement to charge more (with exceptions to guildies or something).
Lets price-fix this crap ... but we need a large % of the Smuggler population on board.
Slice 1: 2k/slice
Slice 2: 4k/slice
Slice 3: 6k/slice
Slice 4: 8k/slice
Master Smuggler: 15k/slice
Sound good? Sound feasible?

if we could (as a community) raise the prices ... that could also meet the needs. $1,000 per %? $10,000 per slice?
The problem with this is you not only have people willing to under cut you, but what about the smugglers that are still needing slicing xp...they will always be willing to slice someone's stuff for cheap cause they need the xp and since it's 100% random and yes we do get a better chance at higher %'s we can still get what 11% I think it is...so if I was not a smuggler and wanted to get something sliced would I pay 10k and have the possibilty of getting the same or worse slice than someone willing to do it for say 1k. I have often contemplated using a fixed rate system that would be based on the sliced %...if I slice something...anything for 35%-40% damn right thats worth 10k and we should be payed accordingly...I just think this might be more practical.... but maybe not! I all for us making more money when slicing cause I'm sure not making it with spices
I'm all for it. 15K or more per item to slice would be fine with me.
But ...............
QUESTION 1:
Assuming that we're successfull per galaxy to move the price of a single slice to 15K, how will this affect the Slicing Tool Suppliers? Right now I get knives at 1k per crate of 25, clamps at 7k per crate of 25, WUK/AUK 2500 per crate of 25.
I don't make my own tools in bulk. I hate crafting like that, but I guess I'd do it if my supplier (Caqoshor) upped his price 5x.
I don't know about you guys, but I make MOST of my money slicing. It's basically the only way I make decent money. If I could keep the same volume of work but make 5k the money I'm all for it. But I don't want to lose the 50k-100k and hour I make slicing even though I think the underlying reasons for your idea are correct.
There needs to be an increase in prices as a whole for Smugglers. For example, faction ... if we start raising prices now ... we can really get rich when Space Expansion comes out and everyone wants an X-Wing or TIE.
I think 180-200 cr/point is reasonable. We really need to look to the future and start cornering the market.
For slicing, I think if we go to a % based system it should be $500 per %. I really hate the % because we have no control on it, but at least I would be making enough $ to make me forget about that
