Thread: Post-CU Hotkey configurations? Tips?

Heya folks,

Well, with the CU almost here, and the realization that there will be more than 2 or 3 useful offensive moves, not to mention the state recovery stuff, I was wondering if people had begun coming up with toolbar setups that they like? My old one is pretty badly burnt into my brain, so it'll take some getting used to, but I just don't see another choice.

So... have people come up with new configurations they like? Care to share?

My current one is position changes in the F1-F4 slots,mount/dismount/heals in the F5-F8 slots, and combat moves in the F9-F12 slots. Less common (but still pretty common) things like call/store vehicle, first aid, equilibrium, and feign death go in some of my SHIFTed slots.

Oh, and while we're on the subject... Which new move do you set to "Auto Attack" ? I've been using Body Shot mostly on TC.

Thanks! Good info, keep it coming.

I actually kinda try and fit all my stuff into the first two toolbars, so I don't have to page back and forth. With the expanded "two bars at a time" view, this puts everything just a SHIFT away. Might be a bit harder to squeeze all that into 2 bars now though, but I'm getting some ideas.

oh yes. i should add that each of my toolbars are expanded to 2 rows.
there's no way you can't expand them to 2 rows with all the useful abilities we have now.

good luck fitting all the goodness into 2 toolbar though. the idea of one non-combat toolbar should help though.

The only thing I've really decided on is having the recovery on the second line of my tool bar which are binded to the 1-4 keys. Toolbar pane 1 is binded to the E key and is my main combat moves. My second pane is binded to the Q key, don't know what's on here yet (rprobably weapons as I'm thinking commando with smuggler ). All my combat moves are binded to the number pad 0-9 and / * instead of f-keys. I had 0 as bound to my clear combat queue but don't need that now. I had 0 bound to root in eq2 so probably do that now.

I didn't do much in testing by this set up worked for me before so I'll stick with it. I'll find some method in which to bind my combat moves to my numebr pad.

I'll add that fact for me as well. I can't seem to be able to get by with less than 6 full toolbars. 3 sets of 24 that is. You simply can't get by with only 24 hotkeys anymore, it's just not a viable choice, unless MAYBE you are Smuggler/Pistoleer because then many of your specials are redundant

Tell ya what Jaspor, I had to totally switch around my hotkeys.

All my stand/sit/meditate (I'm keeping TKM) along with some basic attack skills as well as all my weapons. Also, its a basic travelling toolbar, with different clothes and things of that nature in it, just really, really basic.

Toolbar2 is all my TKM moves. F!-F4 are my four state recovery abilities, F5-F8 are my different damageattacks (ranging from quickdraw to Combo Attack) and F9-F12 are my state mod abilites. I put thermals, swoops, Feign Death, Last Ditch as well as Equilibrium (I'm a Zabrak) and powerboost on the bottom, saving a couple for whatever foods I will need to use.

Toolbar 3 is much the same as the TK bar, but has all my pistol specials, keeping the same pattern. I have FD and LD on all 3 toolbars incase of emergency, as well as my pistol on each toolbar.

It works for me, but it is way different than before. in current live I could do everything from Either my TKM or Fencer bar, but with the CU I had to add a "non-combat" bar so i could have room for just the simple things.

TK I have the 2nd weakest attack (can't remember the name) and pistol i have quickdraw set for auto-attack. I used to have TK/COmbo attack and Pistol/Body Shot auto-clicked, but the action they were taking was causing long downtimes when I was unable to attack from having no action. I know they lowered action costs, but this was all tested again last night, and i was still losing lots of action, so I added the weakest shot that took action to execute.

Just my stuff, but I hope it helps you out

great topic! i remember when they first opened up the frogs and we all picked up full templates i had so many new skills i didn't know where to put them! but the real challenge was figuring out exactly what skill does what, and how well it does it.

as of last night i have it set up so i'll be using 4 toolbars. it doesn't take too long to switch toolbars, so as long as i can remember where i put a certain special when i need it, i should be ok...

toolbars 1 through 3 i'll be using the most.

#1 will be used the most. it will focus on my pistols and smuggler crowd control abilities. it will also have my best two pistols (one energy, one kinetic) for quick weapon changes.
#2 will focus more on my carbine abilities with more AOE attacks. it will also have my best two carbines (one energy, one kinetic).
#3 will be rarely used and will focus on rifles and the extra abilities i don't find as useful. (i don't have anything more than Rifles 1 from marksman, but with the new cert system i can use a rifle pretty effectively if i have to) this one will also have my best two rifles (one energy, one kinetic).

#4 will have my limited melee abilities from Unarmed 4. it will also have the Blasterfist (the only unarmed weapon i can use). and it will have my swoop and /mount.

each of my toolbars will also keep a health stim, and Feign Death of course!

forgot to add that each of my toolbars will have the state recoveries also.

and i like that idea of the non-combat toolbar. my #4 toolbar is half melee and half non-combat. it has /sit /stand /kneel... maybe i'll use my #5 toolbar for armor/clothes.

Now that it's live, any more thoughts on this?

So far, I've been setting Quick Draw as my auto attack move, and using an occasional Advanced Stopping Shot. Seems to work pretty well.

I also have things like Fan Shot, Feign Death, Panic Shot, and Low Blow among my "attack" hot keys.

Speaking of which... Has anybody else noticed Low Blow doesn't seem to be knocking anything down? I must have tried it at least a dozen times last night, and not gotten a single knock down.

Not really sure as to the rest of them, but Feign Death has been - and always will be - in F12 for me. I'm so into the habit of smacking it really hard in times of serious trouble, it would be suicide to change it! Last Ditch probably in F11, so even if I miss hitting FD, I'll not have wasted my chance to survive.

Spent about 2 hrs trying to figure this last night...

I'm MS/MBH and some commando.

Got stand/kneel F1-2, F3 an instant stim D, F4 duellist stance. F5 my Renegade pistol. F6-F11 combat specials - concussion, eye, low blow, underhand, restraining, quick draw (that'll be my auto attack) F12 mask scent

SHIFTed: F1-4 state recoveries, F5 last ditch (this'll probably change to switch to another bar with carbines or a grenade slot), F6 reckless shot, F7 swoop call, F8 Feign Death F9 advanced scatter pistol F10-12 more combat specials (can't recall exactly)

Hopefully I should have everything set up so I can hit most of my weapons (1 of each type) at a stroke plus have specials and healing within reach.

Not hit combat yet, but this pretty much mirrors what I had before, so hope it'll work.

  • f1-4 kip-up, roll shot, dive shot, etc mostly up and down.

  • f4 grenade du jour -- master commando, ya know

  • f5-12 specials. don't remember the order b/c I'm at work... lots of root, etc.

  • shift f1-f5 weapon changes

  • rest are empty of more seldom used specials.

The other bars are things like all my smuggler tools, armor/clothing changes, assorted non-combat.
