Thread: Help me redo my template...

Hey guys,

I am currently a Master Smuggler, Master Combat Medic, Pistoleer 0004. I like the template, but I want something that can deal a little more damage. I've been reading some templates and have came up with the following:

Master Smuggler, Master Bounty Hunter, Pistoleer 0004
Master Smuggler, Master Pistoleer, Combat Medic 4000

If anyone has any other suggestions please give them.

Also, I was wondering how the respec process works. Does it take your total earned experience and allow you to put it anywhere? Or do you have to use combat experience for combat experience skills, etc...?

I'm just about to tweak my template to

MSmug, MBH, Novice commando, rest in Pistoleer.

Nice combo of damage and specials with BH and you just gotta have an AoE weapon now with the Concussion shot fix.

I've also got the Pistoleer line that gives stopping shot - not sure which one it is.

Only thing it really lacks is the healing, but with feign and the ability to root and run away, I'm thinking I should be OK.

I'm a classic MS/Pistoleer with Carb /0/2/2/0and a decent DL-44 XT. The other night I was out hunting with a group and I was drawing so much aggro it was funny. Every lair ended up with me standing in a pile of dead MOBs. Had to scale back to my lower tier Ranged Attacks so the melee folks could keep womping on them.


I'll stick with the classics.

Thanks for the replies. Didn't think about the carbine tree, that might be a possibility. So I take it the carbine specials work with pistols?

Yup. Ranged specials work regradless of weapons now.

My template was m.smuggler/defender 0040/healer 3000/enhancer 0002/saber 0040, which was pretty strong. Switch saber with powers 0400 and you'd have one fun smuggler template. Decent defense, awesome healing, and the ability to go invisible when running spice for Jabba.

great speed and accuracy, great crowd control, great defenses, decent damage, and the ability to be handy with all ranged weapon types.

Hmmm now that does sound interesting....kind of surprised no one has BH. I was under the assumption that it has great damage. Someone else suggested commando. If you use Consussion shot with an AOE weapon, does the effect apply to everyone?

Yes. Just make sure you have auto-attack turned off and don't use a weapon that has a DOT.


It is fun to concussion with an Acid Rifle and watch the who group sit there and stare at you.

Bounty Hunter is very overhyped.... a lot like jedi They have decent general ranged mods to things but really, only thing special about them is the BH missions. Their other specials are, to be honest, mostly redundant if you take other ranged classes. Especially carbiner.

Duelists stance? Pfft. It's center of being you can turn on while holding a ranged weapon. Smugglers get CoB already by virtue of our useless unarmed tree.

You can do far better by building a template out of the normal 3 ranged professions than by going BH.

Interesting, so what do you guys look for when building a temp? Ranged skill mods, or what specials they offer? What actually effects damage output, your skill mods or the weapon quality?


Alot of questions sorry....but thanks for the input so far.
