Master Rifleman/Smuggler takes me about 15 min-1 hour to kill an ancient
I just use a 300 DPS rifle....Concussion shot... prone, snipershot,snare, run and headshot thats basically what I do

/agree....it's vastly over rated. In fact I've gotten to the point that I hate doing solo hunting. Grouping with friends is just 10x more fun.

Yeah, if you want to solo them, you're going to waste time like this guy.
Bring a friend. Preferably one with some healing skills. You can take down a juvie canyon krayt in under a minute, and they drop the neat-o new smuggler components just as well as the tougher krayts. If you know a Jedi with some healing skill, that's ideal because you can make a deal to give him the pearls you find in exchange for you getting all the smuggler stuff.
And with our handy-dandy new Concussion Shot, if things get a little hairy or you aggro another krayt by accident, you can shut them down long enough to heal up, buff up, or run screaming like a little schoolgirl.
I'm a Master Smuggler/MBH/Novice Carbineer and I use a sliced Proton Carbine with a modified DPS of around 550. With the +10m raged cyberarm, I've got a 55m range with that bad boy, and the SAC is fairly low, too. Adding Novice Carbineer gives me a boost with accuracy and speed, as well. Critical Shot from BH is a nice little damage dealer, Underhand Shot for a good ranged KD, and our spiffy Smuggler specials to make the target sing and dance at my whim.

Maybe it's just me but I think I'd be grouping more even without the CU. The solo factor is just so boring and I'm starved for content and interaction. Been having more fun doing anything with a group lately, even if it's just a pickup group I found hanging around one of the hunting choke points.

pffft I said I could solo not that I did, what do you think I am? crazy?
For weapon I have a krayt elite carbine with over 1000 max damage sliced (forget the exact number.) The important thing is the SAC is 73. I have it ADK'd and I always keep SAC lowering pups on it. With all that even my sad Trando stats can fire Leg Shot + Rapid Fire constantly (with some food/spice usually.)
My technique is to simply hit the mob with Crippling Shot, the snare from Carbineer, then start strafing sideways and spamming leg shot + rapid fire. Keep circling and kiting. When snare runs out do Charge Shot and knock it down. Wait a few seconds and snare it again. If you miss or for some reason, the mob gets too close, or you need a break for your action bar just hit the Concussion Shot; its like a get out of jail free card. Of course if things really go bad use Feign Death.
