Smuggler Archive

In pub 20, the names of jedi will no longer be given to bounty hunters. Since smugglers should specialize in the underworld, they would make wonderful name informants. Here's a thought I had, clipped from the BH boards

That, or have the seeker droid give you the jedi's name once on the same planet.



From an RP standpoint, the seeker could get an image capture of the jedi's face and compare it to the known logs of jedi stolen from the enclaves. It would give smugglers a role too, allowing them to update the BH terms in player cities to provide names or selling jedi names lists weekly to BH's for X credits.



Basically, there would a smuggler tab at the BH terms (to save devs from making another terminal, we know how lazy they are). From there, the smuggler would draw missions to "steal" the jedi name list from a quest NPC. Thiis could be like the Crys of Alderaan disks, where 4 or so would give complete set listings. It also adds immersion to the BH and smuggler system, as well as giving you guys another income source.

Or, possibly have the smuggler "De-code" the anonymous names by slicing the BH term for his/her group mates to show the real jedi names. This would have a limited time frame. about 5-10 mins, and would only work for BHs in the smugglers group. Possibly place the terminal slice at master smuggler, and listings in the underworld tree.

So, what do y'all think??

This would be awesome. I would finally have a way to make money, as I had no room to save WUK/AUKs. Problem is, what'll happen when player smuggler BH missions come (which is all too imminent)? The BH could ask for a smuggler to help slice a terminal for a Jedi's name, and *bam* nail him.

Norle, you have to have some common sense as a smuggler. If you think they have your mission, then dont go

But I think the whole Jedi name listing idea for smugglers would be awesome. Since all the Underworld tree does is let you be able to buy FP.

This sounds like the beginninga of a great idea. More emersion for us. I am so over come with the possibilities I am now gonna have to log off for beer and pie!

This is an awesome idea. I'd be more limiting though to make it inline with current terminal slicing. Allow a slice to show jedi names for all currently listed missions coming from that term, and put a 200s reuse timer on the terminal. Or only let smuggler/bh slice to see the names.

The issue really is with lame ass bh's who grief the same paddy over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over. Any process put in to make seeing the names easier would circumvent this. I think a time sink per glance would cut down on greifing since it already can take an hour to find the one mark you're looking for refreshing every 10 seconds.

Fine fine. Exclusively repatedly killing the same jedi is greifing. If a BH ever tried to kill me more than three times in a single day I'd probably /report them. I really don't care about being hunted, and win or lose I like a good fight.

There are other BH's who will take that mission if the paddy gets back on the terms. It becomes less of a mission and more of a 'How can I screw Swen the most? I hate that fish faced squid lover who can't admit he has scatter pistol envy!' when you target the same person over and over. I don't see how anyone could argue that isn't harassment.

I would rather see an "Information Gathering" type skill for the Smuggler. A skill that would get information that could help the Bounty Hunter OR the Jedi. That would allow the Smuggler to work the system and possibly double cross his clients. I think that's a bit more fitting than Assistant Bounty Hunter.

I find it odd that someone that employs a BH to kill a Jedi wouldn't even know the freaking Jedi's name! Does that make ANY sense at all?

There was this blue fish down on the corner of 7th and main. You know, where the crack dealers and ladies of the night hang out? Anyways he comes up with his sparkling feet and one of the girls makes a crack about being faster than a speeding bullet so he ripped her in half like a phone book with his saber. Name? So... you were able to get a DNA sample from this uber Jedi type... but you couldn't get something as simple as his name? First name? Last name? Nickname? Farking pet goldfish's name?

Why would he give his name? After he commits his crime he runs around in a circle yelling "I am Sparticus!"? He's a lot more likely to sweat or something than do that.
