Thread: I am looking for slicing information

You sure you read all of the FAQ's

Slicing armor does one of four things..
1) Makes it useable as it decays
2) Makes it decay *slower*
3) Chance to lower damage by 50%, thus lowering decay
4) Reduction of armor break effectiveness, thus lowering damage, thus lowering decay

No armor slices make it decay faster.

I certainly wouldn't presume to tell anyone what to do with their money, but on my server at least a full suit of RIS armor goes for about 5 million credits and a single ADK is now selling for 10 million and up. I was never very good at math, but, let's see.... hmm.

The old slicing system caused things to decay faster too, but no one really seemed to mind. I personally haven't seen any evidence that the new system actually DOES cause extra decay (especially since everything decays so damned fast anyway), and I suspect that it doesn't since it was originally built to have its own form of breakage attached.

Hello all.


I am not a smuggler and therefore do not know the intricacies of the new slicing system. I would greatly appreciate any information you smugglers could share. Here is my situation:


I have an NK Executor Sword, loot drop from Necrosis

The Executor has an ADK on it

The Executor has not been sliced, ever


I would like to know what would happen if I had it sliced? Would it decay or break, and if so, how? I would like to know all I can about what slicing can or may do to my weapons.


Thank you in advance for any help you are able to give.

Its all in the FAQ, you guess it - Frequently Asked Questions!


Because really, these questions aren't frequent enough.

The New Smuggler FAQ is amazing... Slicing is kinda damaged though, doesn't give proper percentages yet... unless they are speed slices. and Loot doesn't drop properly...

Probably smart not to consider slicing anything valuable for another publish or series of hot fixes, or if it's all working as intended (chuckle) wait until the system gets figured out :>

OK, I read the new FAQs, and something has not been cleared up.


All they said was you could slice something after putting an ADK on it. What they did not say was whether or not that item would decay or break. I have had guild smugglers say that if I have my weapons sliced, the ADKs will not keep them from Breaking. Now the smugglers in my guild did not define what "Breaking" was, so I don't know if they meant it could be broken during slicing, or if it would suffer loss of condition and break due to use, which the ADK is supposed to prevent.


So perhaps my question would best be summed up as this:


In the new system, if I have my weapon sliced AND there is an Anti-Decay kit on it, will the weapon become nonfunction in the future due to normal useage?
