I'm a new smuggler confused to high heavens, heehee

Wat do we use to slice now? And what slices is for what? Cos I just randomly clicks and sometimes it lets me slice and sometimes it doesn't. I was wondering how we slice armours now? And what type of slices are there? Does anyone understand this well enough to instruct me please?
