I dunno about you guys, but when I think about a smuggler, I think about...

-Smuggling illegal goods over Imperial lines

-dealing drugs

-getting fake ID

But... I had a thought the other night.. what about a smuggler/proprieter.

Smugglers deal almost exculsivly in a network of connections.. organized crime and whatnot...

What about a 'speakeasy' owner? Immagine a player building in a NPC city like Cnet that was a speakeasy..Put in a gambling hall with real games like Sabacc, Pazzac and others (including betting on NPC pod-racing) and bingo. You have instant content.

Entertainers would be welcome to add to the atmosphere and because thier skills could add to a players 'luck'... Gambling is a great way to get real players there...

Food/drinks/spices sold..

ALARGE monthly payoff to be given to the Imps to keep it out of trouble..

/sigh what this game COULD be...

Last year at Fan Fest the developers announced the Hutt Casino. It was a add-on to Jabba's palace which was supposed to have card games and such. The developers stated that the "assets" (artwork etc) were already developed. And that putting card games and games of chance was possible.

I would really like to see something like this added. People have been asking for a long time for either functional gaming tables or Player City Casino's that smugglers could deploy.

This could be integrated into the smuggler mission terms that have been hinted at by the DEVs.

Spice and the schems to build the casino and gambling machines could drop as loot rewards from smuggling missions, similar to the loot system the BH NPC missions have. If they made the casino item quests/missions Master Smuggler only, it would be even better IMHO.

Oh, Oh...PLEASE PLEASE make this happen in some form...

Since people always find another way to bend us over when we are lieing on the ground and give us another treating without lube.

It entertains them.

Smugglers SELL experience. They sell sin.Now to me THATS ENTERTAINMENT! You are part of a VAST entertainment supply chain! You may not put on the dress or sing the sultry jazz tunes.. but your a part of the entertainment MACHINE. Think Vegas.

You don't think that Bangkok is famous for its food and temple's alone now do you?

If your a drug-dealer your a smuggler. Arms dealer.. same thing.. Mamasan? Yup.. Smuggler. If it goes on under the nose of the law and your making money for it... its SMUGGLING. And what a grand profession it is! You provide NEEDED goods and services to people that can't get it anywhere else! Best of all, they are willing, paying (thankful)customers!

Smugglers and BH's are part of the underground. Underground organizations are always working on/taking out various connections.

Smugglers make up the bulk of organised crime. Sure you have bosses, but they just front the cash.

Smugglers come in various forms. Smuggling doesn't stop at the physical act of moving banned product across a line. Smuggling also involves the ENTIRE distribution chain. So, smugglers grow the spice, move the spice and sell the spice. Its not just spice either... Whats illegal, but WANTED... Sex, drugs, slaves... find your niche

At the end of the chain, itwhat would be bettermarketing?Just walk up to a customer in a trenchcoat and say "hey you wanna buy some deathstix?"Or, have a speakeasy.. or a place to buy/sell blackmarket goods. Ina relatively safe, controlled, quality inspected environment?

Just think of the days of prohibition. If it was sinful.. it could be had, and you knew where to get it.. Just walk down this alley, knock on the door 4 times and say "The Nuna is in the vaporator".. and your in. Need an illegal weapon? No problem! Need a loan at a MASSIVE intrest rate? No problem! Need to put a bounty on someone for skipping out on the loan? No problem! Need a few extra bucks and your feeling lucky? Easy. Some company? Those Entertainers at teh gambling tables can increase your luck...for a price. Other skilled tradesmen can come in and use your place to sell thier fine spices and slicing services.. for a modest cut of course..

Its not all just easy money either, you need to pay your workers. A few well trained bouncers for keeping the girls safe as well as for those unruly brawls that come up from time to time... the table operators.. you don't have time to grow the spice and make it yourself. You have a business to run! You have to pay yoru suppliers, make sure your customers are happy... pay off the the Imperial police AND the local Cor Sec division.

Immagine 2 warring crime families.. like a guildwar.. Gadfather style...

Oh look.. its Zedo... and he's been pulled over by the Imperials for an inspection.... Why are those carbines set to kill? AHHHHH!!!!!!

/sigh What this game could be....
