Thread: Smuggler-Created Card Games?
Anyhow, I was just wondering what you guys thought of this idea. Good? Bad? Ugly? Fun? You can read my little post here. Feel free to leave comments.

I thought it was good. Really good.
For awhile now I've been trying to create a vendor that sells card games. But it's hard to think of a card game, or any other kind of game really, when there's no way to "randomize" the way pieces are dealed to a player. Which doesn't make for a very challanging game when you always get to pick the very best "card" out from your "deck".
WAAAAYYY back in the day one of Ahazi's most famous Smuggler/RPers by the name of Toryn Farr started a Sabacc tournament in game with a bunch of friends. To my shame, I wasn't there, but I know a bit about it. Basically it was all done on pen and paper by him outside of the game and simply narrated to the players, who then had to chose what to do or roll their chance cubes etc. I wish I could find the thread to know how exactly it was established, but apparently it was a blast. No graphical interface, and a LOT of work, but he did it.
most involve dice, but one of them was a "traditional" Twi'lek card game, called Tyk ka Vis (translates as One to Five).
it's kinda sorta like poker, but it takes a bit of coordination, and you need some sort of crafter to make the "cards" and custom name them.
i'll post the rules later tonight when i get home.

I posted a little idea in the Core Systems forum about giving Master Smugglers the ability to create card games. This would give us something to do, and would add an interesting and badly needed element, card games (gambling and for fun), to Star Wars Galaxies.

Lots of smugglers have been asking for a "gaming table" which would allow players to play card games against other players. By sitting at the gaming table, you would effectivly enter into an extended trade window where you create a POT. You could put credits, or items into this POT, and play a game a cards for them. Even just using credits would be great.
Smugglers have also been asking for a player city structure called a casino.Where their would be gaming tables already pre-installed.
The developers actually have assetsbuild upto support card gamesas well as other casino games. There were announcments about a Hutt Casino which never materialized.
I'd love to see some real PvP gambling ingame.

I was just going to say....Toryn Farr. He tried so hard to get Sabaac in the game. Last I heard he was programming a freeware/shareware version.

Pretty cool.
A little while ago... a few months ago... I remember seeing a thread about how to create and play Pazaak in SWG. It was pretty neat. Though now I can't seem to find it.
It's probably in my favorites somewhere... but yeesh... it's so crammed with sites, I can't find anything. ![]()
