Cause there's a cap at 500 faction points.
If you have more than 500 (which you do), you'll be told "You've already done enough for the cause."
This is one of the major reasons selling FP is such a pain in the arse.

They did that so we couldn't buy our way up the chain of command. (But we can buy others up it) Imagine buying your way up without firing a single shot. Well I suppose you could do a crapload of delivery missions all the way up but then they'd just put you in command of the post office and supply squadron.

You can start by reading the stickies...
Particularly "Important Links, Guides, and FAQs for Smugglers"...there's a handy little faction selling guide in there...

You'd buy up to 500, delegate to the customer (keeping your 200 minimum), buy up to 500, delegate to the customer (keeping your 200 minimum), ad infinitum.

You can buy but you have to buyup to your 500 fp capand delegate small quantities (200 - 250fp). The person recieving the fp will need to stand next to you while you buy / delegate. You purchase at 125fp for 10k and can delegate depending on your faction rank (see Guide to Selling Faction Points)
