I have just delved into the relm of faction bases. Once you place a base it gives you the option to donate resources. What are those resources used for? There are 3 different types of turrents you can buy,are there any differences? Once you place a minefield do you need to add actuall mines? Are faction scanners broke?

Any help with this is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I think the resources are like maintainance. All imps/rebels can pay that to their respective faction bases, I think. Not sure about the rest, though.

Yesthe mine fields do need mines. If you inspect them, they are empty, You can put 20, 5 charge mines in a mine field.

As far as I know the Faction Scanners are not broke just easy to take out. Thats why the Turrets the have Faction Scanners built in are popular.

Resources are used for repairing turrets. I believe they also affect the respawn rate of NPCs. The more resources available, the faster they respawn (and in greater numbers).

As for the turret types:

Dish - energy damage, built in faction scanner

Tower - kinetic damage, built in minefield

Block - blast damage

I have a Rebel faction perk FAQ (last updated a month ago) here:

I'll probably repost it on the Intrepid board sometime this week.
