i just played arround with these bombs droids and i still habe plenty of problems with them.
even if they look usefull ... in their current state they are more useless and realy need to be tuned.
set the droid on chase, then target the droid and type in detonate.
problem: if u fight alotta mobs, its nearly impossible to target the little MSE droid. even more difficult if u have plenty of mobs arround u. there are some suggestions here on the board telling u to use the /target commend.

but "/target an MSE" doesn realy work if thers any target near u, which begins with a "an". the target command doesnt relay care about the rest. grouping would be a solution but just unless u are solo. wont realy work in a team.
question: is there a work arround for this?
and the next problem that i ahve is ... why the heck is there a timer? cant they just implement a attack or "detonate on target" command? making it behave like a driving granade would make them more usefull.

like i said ... nice idea but the procedure which is needed to detonate the droids makes it rather usless. i coukd easely shoot the mobs during teh time ill set up the droid. (even with macros)
so does any1 of u ahve some tips for me? what am i doing wrong?

Ever thought of grouping the droid?
Default command is Group I believe...
Group
Chase
/detonatedroid
I have an alias /boom that is
/alias boom /target an MSE;/detonateDroid
Works unless I'm in a town and itll normally target something else... but for fighting large groups,it works.
If its in a group, you can always just click on the group position to target it.

The issue of selecting the droid is only a problem when you are not near the group leader. If you are solo, just group with it, selecting will never be an issue then...even from 90m away. As for when you are in groups, I found that putting my pointer over the droid, then saying chase (with the target actually selected) and then clicking the pointer on the droid right after that works best. The droids don't immediatly shoot off, and you do have a second to select them before they run.
As for pricing, make friends with a DE, that is the simpilist solution. Also, find a cheap DE, some out there charge way too much for these little guys. Others realize they are one shot droids and need to keep the cost down to sell them.

This sounds like a lot of work just to detenate a droid. And at the cost of them, it just doesn't seem worth it.

u are right, some r overpriced and others are willing to deal, but the problem lies in the fact that to make them salable they can't be effective. another dev problem not thought through............is this a surprise
btw, i'm not a dev hater, i just think they should try to see our point of view, and play for the love of the game, not the paycheck

Its like getting good at throwing hand grenades on a twitch game, except harder..Being underused is their advantage- unexpected. Its not really fair to other players IMO for their not to be that 3 second timer, that i believe can be seen by all. They should have that chance cause the thing, especially a 40 power, can cut them in half regardless of their armor. And its for our benefit also. IMO we should allhave afair chance to shoot one chasing us when someone decides to fight fire with fire.

Man I hate it when that happens...as to the droid problem I only use them when I have time...like a suprise attack or *cough*flushing a target from hiding.

i cant say i dont like those nifty little droids. im close to tripple master and irealy need something i can play with *g
ok i agree that a blowup on contact option is a bit unfair aggainst other players. they should be paniced enuff if they see a MSE chasing me
hmmm ... corospondent? how about making a suggestion accoring bomb droids?
- remove this "/detonate" command and make it a trainable pet command so that "/tellpet detonate" worx
seems to be the best solutiuon.

As a MDE and a smuggler I love these little guys.
The reason they can be expensive is that they require Tholium gas which is fairly rare (at least on my server). It was at least a month before the gas spawned at all, so if you are on a server with rare gas then the little guys can get expensive.
As for using them, grouping is the best since you can just hit ctrl+2 (if they are the second member of the group) and then type /detonateDroid.
Typically I keep one out with me whenever I'm running around and if there is something I want to target I just say "Chase" it's the default follow command.
While they are racing away you can click on them and start the countdown.
There are problems with them since you can only use one per battle and you can't detonate while you are FD but they can pack one heck of a punch.
If you run around witha bounty hunter as well, you double your damage potential

Hey I'm late on this thread and nobody may be paying attention to it anymore.
Can I target an overt person while I'm covert, chase with my droid, detonate the droid and tef off of it?
