Thread: Possible detrimental problem with the new FD.

I haven't been able to test this but would like some input.

Now according to the new method, if I were to say be in combatant mode (pvp enabled) and fighting npc's. Would another Combatant (pvp enabled) person be able to run up on me and attack me thus negating my ability to Feign Death? I ask this because FD will not work in PVP but will in PVE. Or would it because I am fighting PVE first and PVP second still alow me to FD and still call in support? Would I just get sent to the cloner the instant that the PVP started and I would have to start over?

Has anyone looked into this aspect of the change? I know everyone has tested the PVP or the PVE to death. But have they tried the 2 in a combination? What about pets are they considered PVP or PVE? Could this fix essentially be bugged in its own right?

If this is truely the way it is then could we not bring this to the dev's attention and maybe and no I am not looking at hope to much but could we maybe get them to adapt one of our FD "Fixes".

Thanks

Um, if you're a combatant, and someone attacks you, that's pvp. Doesn't matter if npcs are involved, you are pvp enabled, and another player can kill you even if you feign.

If you're a Combatant (PvE only), other players shouldn't be able to attack you at all. Only if you're Spec Forces (PvP Enabled) can another player attack you.

First, there are three distinct states that a factionally aligned player can be in,

  • Special Forces (PvP enabled)

  • Combatant (factional PvE enabled)

  • On Leave

When you are a combatant, PvE enabled, you can not be attacked or harmed in any way by another player. You can however fight enemy faction NPCs, who will actually attack you on sight. In this scenario, should a PvP enabled player come across you when FD'd, they would not be able to harm or kill you.

When you are PvP enabled you are attackable by and can attack other PvP enabled players of the opposing faction. Enemy faction NPCs treat you the same, attacking you on sight. If you were fighting NPCs and FD'd while PvP enabled and another player, who was also PvP enabled and of the opposite faction to you, came along, he could then attack you while you are in your FD state and deathblow you. You have to choose tobe PvP enabled for this to happen.

When in the On Leave state, you cannot immediately attack enemy faction NPCs and they will not immidiately attack you (although some may scan you, with the possibility of "discovering" you and thus changing your status to that of combantant, ie PvE enabled). Other than duels, players On Leave cannot immediately attack other players that are opposing faction and PvP enabled and PvP enabled opposing faction members cannot attack those that are On Leave.

Hope this answers your quiery.

Nevermind Wes answered this while I was typing.

Here is what I would like to know and I think this is what the orignal poster was trying to say:

I am a Spec Forces Player, not on leave, fighting a group of NPCs and I feign.

Along comes another Spec Forces player of the oposite faction whofinds me laying there attacks me and immediately DB's me because I'm feigning.

Is there a possibility of this happening?

I'd say only if he can target you while you are feigning. I've never used FD in PvP, so I don't know if someone can be targeted after they FD if they weren't targeted before. If they can, I suppose the enemy player can proceed to incap and DB you.
