I posted this on the SW board with no response. Can smugglersslice ship components? If not how come? I was thinking about going smuggler and SW with the hopes that i could do this. I may do that anyway regaurdless; but it would be realistic to think the a smuggler could rig ship parts for better smuggling etc, No?

If not how come? -- Because they were introduced to the game as "balanced", therefore, any slicing would throw them out of balance.

Right, balance is the key here and it's locked the door shut on slicing.

woooooooo-boy! I can see the flames from here...
Nah, no ones gonna flame ya, but you better be prepared to hear a list of things us smugglers should be able to do...
Your timing is bad that's all.

there are quite a few things here about "balance" i'd disagree with and i would like to argue you about but i wont, always seems to fall on deff hears no matter how much senese i make or how much it actually does relate to starwars, as in the movies, you know, the one created by george lucas?

I don't agree with the "balance" stuff. Just because we may be able to slice some ship components, doesn't mean we should/could be able to slice them all. For example, we could slice boosters or engines to make them faster or weigh less, but for boosters they could become dangerous and have the risk of exploding (disabling the boosters) and causing a little damage to the ship.
Slicing shields to make them weigh less or protect more, but at the risk of having them crap out altogether every now and then.

But not being able to slice weapons (or just slice them to make them lighter).
We don't have to be able to slice every single component, or perhaps just be able to slice the mass of a component.

a way to "balance" ship part slicing would be to have a sliced parts risk random failures
"Its not my fault!"
