Thread: Wouldn't this of worked for fixing FD than what was done?

Rather than taking away one ofour "prize" skills of away from us, because BH and Jedi abuse it......wouldn't it have been better to take it away from them?

I mean really....a Jedi Smuggler? does that makes sense in the Star Wars Universe?....Come on.....

Another thing, a Bounty Hunter Smuggler?....thats like a "double agent".......

Rather than punishing a community....yet again....why not punish the "abusers"?

It could be done:

  • You cannot becoma a Padawan if you have ANY Smuggler skills.

  • You cannot become a Bounty Hunter if you have any Smuggler skills.

Problem solved.....Abusers punished, Smugglers catch a break.......finally.

The developers' reason for changing FD is that it was never designed for use in PvP. They told people at the last Fan Fest this, it was mentioned briefly on the forums a long time ago; it wasn't exactly common knowledge that this change was on the to do list, but obviously it has been for quite some time. They felt that with the new changes to the GCW and removal of the TEF system that now would be the best time to do it.

Do we want player bounties isntead of them only being for jedi?

I sure do and in the event that happens, Feign Death would still be as large a problem then as it is now. Denying access, moving to mastery, none of this solves the problem. It merely postpones it.

Right, which is why I am 100% for the change....

...however, I am 100% against the manner in which it was implemented.

We're supposed to be the shady people in SWG, not the developers!

Theed was a bustling commerce city...people hawked their wares, danced, laughed, dueled, and had a rollicking good time. Cantinas packed with Entertainers of every race, shape and size...along with scoundrels, Stormtroopers, and drunks. People grouped up and stuck together in the wilderness, and you ALWAYS took a Scout or a Ranger with you. We lived our own Star Wars saga. We created our own personas, our own histories, and it all blended into this wonderful, magical experience that I will always remember...

That magic is gone now, but I'd pay 50 bucks a month to have it back.

Editor's Note: The author of the above post has quit giving SOE her money. She suggests you do the same, because this game will never be what you want it to be.

I agree that something needed to change in terms of PvP, but this "you'll take it and like it" approach smacks of the way the Dev's used to do business. I thought they were trying to be *inclusive* with the community (like the recent harvesting changes, vendor changes, etc. that have been postponed and/or modified because of a dialogue with the community).

In any event, here are the facts as I see them:

Fact: Smuggler was on of the last professions to be made available for testing in Beta before launch

Fact: Due to all of the changes over time, slicing is a pain now (auto-pulling bug), the revamp *still* has no timeline, the underworld tree needs pistol experience (???) and is useless really until underworld 4 when you can buy faction cheaply (depending on rank), our 2 best pistol specials have been toned-down significantly, and spcies are all but useless since the chef revamp.

Fact: Not everyone attended Fan Fest, so many did not hear that the Dev's talk about this as a bug

Now, I don't know if the Dev's ever posted earlier that this was a bug. I never recall them doing so (a Red Name posting that FD is a bug), but I could have missed a post.

Wat angers the community is that the profession continues to get worse and worse with no end in sight, and no dialogue with us. If for every change/nerf, they *fixed* something for us or gave us a smuggling-type capability, then at least there would be balance. As it stands now, a smuggler is only good for slicing and faction reselling. Evading scans is nice, but a high faction rank is better than that (d'oh!). That is a nice investment of time and skill points just to do very little in game.

In france, it may be a bad example, but if an enterprise gives somethings to it's workers or let them do something for a bunch of time, the thing becomes a rule...

For example, if the boss let all his employees have a 10h break around the coffee machine, the 10h break will become a tacit rule after a while.

2 years is more than a while.

I don't mind removing it or changing it, but after 2 years, you don't act like the change was a hotfix to solve a recent bug.... Forcing the change and not trying to speak to see if you can make it softer....

In france, making such a thing would make every worker stop working and go on strike...

I learned something in the management lesson i had... When you want to make a big change to something and when you know that the change will be really unpleasant, you hae 3 solutions
- Force the change and not communicate about it -> direct strike
- Communicate and make the change appear time after time.... -> the good solution
- Try to make everyone think they want the change -> the best for manipulation professionals... And the worst if someone see what you're doing

We are in solution number 1....
