Hmm, that's strange, my post was deleted. Well, without a PM or email, I can only assume it was a forum glitch, so I'll just repost it
.
This was originally posted by a friend of mine; a Jedi on Starsider named Lashiens. He was banned from the forums for three days, and that ban has since been extended to seven days. His offense? Trolling - Stirring up trouble to incite disruption. An example of trolling would be posting to a thread without the intent to provide positive suggestions or comments and instead making negative and or disruptive comments. Well, his thread was actually made to bring the community together, and since I think somebody working for SOE erred in banning him, I will repost his message here.
Before I continue, there are three links he would like everybody to see that show the history of the Smuggler profession.

http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=smuggler&message.id=81983&highlight=smuggler+history#M81983
This is also a link to another forum, which I encourage you to visit. We wont be silenced on these forums.
http://farpoint.assembly-online.com/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=10167
I should also point out that this was not Lashiens' idea to repost this, but mine. He is very happy with the encouragement and backing that we're getting from the community, but should somebody need to be further punished for this, it should be me.
Now, onto his original post.

"This isn't a rant. This isn't a gripe session. This is about giving credit where credit is due.
I have a friend, or more like an older brother to me, who I've never met, nor laid eyes on in real life, who lives across the great ocean. He plays Star Wars Galaxies, just like I do, just like we all do. But he plays it with a different passion than I do, in a way that makes me sit back and stare in awe. His name is Rich. And he loves the profession that we all know as Smuggler.
The way that he talks about Smuggler is uncanny. He talks and talks about it.... in a way that most people talk about Jedi. To him, Han Solo IS his Obi-wan Kenobi.
The Smuggler profession.....so iconic, in so many ways. The seedy, gritty side of Star Wars that we enjoy..... one of the main things that made the movie enjoyable, and even Han Solo, just a nobody, helped to save the galaxy.
In this game.... we have seen so many changes come and go with time. I remember a time....
When Commandos had no certifications for their weapons.....
I remember a time, when Bounty Hunters' seeker droids didn't work....
I remember a time when Fencer had no defenses to speak of.....
I remember a time, when Chef foods were useless.
I remember a time when Doctors had no way to cure fire.
I remember a time, when Droid Engineers had no droids that were even worth using relatively....
I remember a time, when Master Pikemen basically had no accuracy....
I remember a time, when Tailors could not see the jewelry that they were crafting....
I remember a time, when Armorsmiths could not change the hues on the armor that they crafted....
I remember a time, when Image Designers had no income because people were completely satisfied with their toons....
I remember a time, when Architects were one time, one purchase crafters....
I remember a time, when Artisans had nothing worth selling, and they got vehicles to sell....
I remember a time, when Bio-Engineers could not experiment on their cloned animals....
I remember a time, when Brawlers had no way to defend themselves against ranged opponents, npc or pc...
I remember a time, when Carbineers had just as bad accuracy as Pikemen....
I remember a time, when Combat Medics were laughable in combat....
I remember a time, when Entertainers had absolutely no way to make income outside of other player tips....
I remember a time, when Merchants couldn't make droids bark their ads.....
I remember a time, when Politician used skill points on basically nothing....
I remember a time, when Pistoleers were just as bad off as Fencers....
I remember a time, when Rangers couldn't make camouflage kits because of extremely difficult to locate flora....
I remember a time, when Riflemen were sitting ducks for all melee, and now it's just the opposite.....
I remember a time, when Teras Kasi Artist could be killed by powerboosting.....
And I remember a time, when the path to Jedi crippled all of us, and even the people who managed to become Jedi.
What do all these have in common? They have all been touched, changed, and revamped to make them worth playing, most to a good degree.
But what have Smugglers gotten? Nothing but broken promises.... nerf after nerf..... and they don't even really get a single dev to show up in their forum to say "This is why. But here's why we think you will want us to wait a bit longer, we've got something that will knock your socks off."
Nothing. Dead Air. Silence.
Time and time again, whenever there is a public outcry made about something by the community, it is heard by the devs, and they make IMMEDIATE strides to correct the situation as fast as possible, with as few bugs as possible.
But what about the Smugglers? Nothing. Nothing at all.
I even remember when Wookiees talked about how they couldn't wear armor, and how crippling it was to them. They got their armor. It took some time, but they got it.
Who am I? Just a nobody, really. I sit back on my little server of Starsider, and play my game quietly with the few friends that I do have. I complain about things that I don't like to them, and they kind of laugh, and vice versa. But right now, I'm crying out for those who aren't being heard, who won't be heard. I'm crying out for every single player out there who is a Smuggler. You all know who I'm talking about.
The same people who slice your armor.
The same people who slice your weapons to give you that awesome damage output.
The same people who make the spice that save your butts when you're out PvEing, or PvPing and get caught in a dangerous situation and need a quick fix.
The same people who sell you your faction points so it's easier for you to rise in your respective faction rank.
The same people who help you shut down faction bases by slicing terminals.
Yes. They are the underdogs. But they ARE an integral part of Star Wars, and Star Wars Galaxies.
This is my plea to everyone in the community. The players of the Smuggler Profession.... they need our help. They aren't being heard. They've waited almost two long years for a revamp that has not come. Pushed back, time after time.... don't they deserve their light in the sun too, just like everyone else?
Help me please, to help them. This is going out to all the professions. Let's all put our own problems on the backburner, just for a little bit, I promise. Just a short while. Sure, we all have our little problems.... but we're held out on them before, for just a bit. Let's help the people who haven't gotten a fix at all. Whenever something has been wrong and we've all cried out, the devs fixed it. Let us help the Smugglers. I'm begging all of you. Talk to your correspondents. We've stood together as a community before, let's do it, just one more time. Let's do it for the Smugglers, who haven't gotten their love yet.
I'm a Jedi now. But.... for them, for my friend. I'm laying down my lightsaber, the lightsaber in a silly roleplaying game that I spent two years of my life, trying to get..... lost friends, cried, and grew angry at times, just to get.... I'm laying that lightsaber down until they get what they want. I will not grind another day until they get the love that they DESERVE.
To end this.... I guess that I will leave a small, quote that I remember Thunderheart making a while ago....
"Guys, now is the time for Jedi to have their revamp. Let them have it."
Instead, it should now say this:
"Guys, now is the time for Smugglers to have their revamp. Let them have it."
We can do this. Talk to your correspondents. If you can manage to talk to a dev, corner them. Talk to them, tell them that they need to put some other things aside and give Smugglers' what they have promised. Let's cry out like Alderaan. Except.... let's not be silenced.
If you would like to read more about the Smugglers' history in SWG, you can click on the links in my sig below.
Thank you for listening, and please consider helping out those who can't help themselves.
