Sorry, can't find this info anywhere..... I have a couple of sets of armor I want to get sliced and am looking to find out what I can expect...
James...
Hopefully someday soon I will be able to provide a close answer. I have been smuggler for four months and have written down almost all my slices ( I would say ALL my slices, but I know I've missed a few here and there). But I've recorded probably 98% of them at least. I have several pages of slices I need to work into my totals, but when I do, I'll publish the results.
I don't know the answer to your question, but from all the weapon slices I've done, I know that 31% weapon slices aren't too rare, but after that point (32% and above) it drops off drastically. Judging from my own experience (I sliced 20 suits of composite last night) I feelthat 30%+ efficiency slices are far more rare than 30%+ weapon slices. Going from memroy, of the 180 pieces I sliced, I think I had 99 efficiency slices, but only 4 or 5 of those were 30% or over. I don't think I saw a 34 or 35 slice, if so, no more than one. I saw a couple of 30's, at least one 31, and maybe a 32 and 33.
It is all random but I would say there is a higher chance of getting a 30-31% slice then lower base armor.
first off its 1/2 that it will be an effectiveness slice.
so y*.5
And effectiveness slices range from 35%-10% = 25 effectiveness slice possibilties. And you want 5 of those.
So 5/25 = .20
Therefore y * 0.5 * 0.20 = .10y
So lets say you do 100 pieces then 10 of them should be 31-35% encum sliced
Of course im no the best at math so this could be wrong
Trung, Daermoth... Sorry, but your math is flawed, and here is why.
As I mentioned above, I have tracked almost all of my slices, so I know of what I speak. The odds of getting a slice at the min and max levels is much less than getting a slice in the middle values. Let me say that another way. It is not EVEN DISTRIBUTION over the range of percentages. The odds of getting a 45% encumb slice are MUCH MUCH less than getting a 35% encumb slice. It is like a bell.
I am at work, so can't quote specific values at the moment, but here is one thing I do remember: For encumb, slices in the middle ranges WERE evenly distributed. Then starting around 39 or 40% they start dropping rather quickly. Seems like I had half as many 41% slices as 35% slices, and than above 41% it really went down. I think the same thing happens at the low end. So unless you know the actual "drop-off rate", you can't predict the number of pieces.
I guess it's time to compile all my statistics and get em posted.......

Daermoth..
It IS interesting that your numbers came out exactly to what you predicted if, as I claim, the math is wrong. Obviously I am overlooking something, or your friend got lucky. I have sliced 35 full suits of composite over the last couple of nights for a friend, so let me try to put those statistics together with all my previous stats, and see what we have.
