So, a player can go pay for a buff and get a 2400 bump in action, health, quickness, constitution, stamina, and another stat that I don't remember...buffs last a couple of hours...

The same player can also go to a master entertainer and get a mind buff...again , the buffs last for a couple of hours.

The same player can also go buy some food to increase XP by 5%....90 min or so.

None of these buffs result ina "downer"....and they last a very long time.

At the moment, why would anyone want to use spice? They don't last nearly as long andyou lose vital stats when you "come down."

To me, spice can't compete with a buff or good food. They are useless.

Do any of you have success selling spice, or do you give it away?

What am I missing?

Right now the only use for spice is to uber Buff for a "quick" PVP or PVE situation or to stabilize a stat you are losing during said battle. Other then that you are missing nothing. Our spice market is all but gone, Gold and Pixie are the only 2 sellers and even they are moving slow. Welcome to Smuggler!

That's exactly why the spice market is dead. The last time that I sold any spice was before the Chef revamp.

Since then I just make some muon or pixie for myself when needed.

I've taken to using spices for an RP-tool, and nothing more.

I give free samples out with slices. I try to push it on dancers in the cantina. I RP a seedy dealer. I sell less than 10 crates a week on the bazaar. I've taken to putting up single-doses of gabaki for noobs who want a quick high.

Spice needs work, serious work.

I carry spices with me all the time (a crate of Muon and a crate of Pixie) and use them mostly as emergency backups or if my buffs run out mid-mission and I don't feel like going back to Lag-o-net.

The ups are cool but the downs WAAAAAY over shadow them:

UPS:

Substantial gains in abilities

Instantaneous

No stomach space used so they stack with food

DOWNS:

Gains only last 6-10 minutes (when good battles last much longer- meaning you will probably experience a downer during the fight)

Most gains come with minor loss of other abilities

HUGE- loss in abilities during downer (near incapcitation)

"After Downer" leaves you weaker (much) than before inception

The use of spice should have some heavy drawbacks but these are too taxing compared to what little benefit they give- especially when compared to food or buffs.

I got to Spices 4 right before the chef revamp. For about a week I was on top, then that damn brandy came in and now no one will buy my gold. Now I just make some for myself and newbies that can't afford buffs.

There's no point in spices any more with food and entertainer buffs.
