Thread: A way to make smugglers smuggle

Ok is a simple idea, basicly its a smuggler terminal that acts like a bazaar and a bh termial rolled into one. It has some new ideas for ranger, chef and dancers... I think it would work well ,and wouldn't take away from the professions that you love to play now

and because the idea is to enhance smugglers i will post it here in full only.

I) Introduction:


Part A)


Well this post is not an formal letter, it is a written proposal to Wanderhome. Why Wanderhome? Because It’s the server I live on, and the community I interact with in my star wars world, and although a lot of the communities (servers/galaxies) have a lot in common (problems/issues/and way it functions) each galaxy also have their own unique problems, members, and groups, that bind us together. I was lucky to pick Wanderhome as my server, because as far as I can tell, it has been filled with mature, and well being people. And so I send this post out to Wanderhome, in hopes that you will read it, and in respond making my idea grow into more then an idea.

I can still remember reading about a the patch notes of Everquest, saying along the lines “Lucas Arts and Sony Online Entertainment are working together on creating a new Star Wars Bases MMORPG.” I remember getting onto my Charcter. And going to the ?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comffice:smarttags" />CrystallineCaves and while fighting and hunting for good loot on Velious telling my friends of the patch notes I read. Of course they were not interested they love Everquest too much. But It was like this crazy dream come true. And so about another year after that, me and my brother started reading about the development about the games, keeping a look on the forums. We read what the devs had to say about how this new and different game was going to be like. And slowly what they where describing how the game was going to be started to crumble into something else… The Wilderness, (where it was full pvp) vanished, The game wasn’t going to be made up of ONLY player cities, and what images I had going through my head, started to just fade, into a black abyss not know how this game would be. Now two years after the release the devs still haven’t made up their mind, on how the game is going to be, and still it just easly molded like a piece of clay. Because the game seem to be able to be changed… just like that… new and different ideas are never out of the questions… in fact, often the devs will look at them and even use them. To change the ever changing star wars world around us. PLEASE REMEMBER EVEN IT I SAY IT LIKE IT IS BEING ADDED, ITS BECAUSE ITS ONLY BEING ADDED IN MY HEAD PLEASE DO NOT BECONFUSED AND MAKE RUMORS OF THESE CHANGED HAPPING… unless they really are…

When the game came out, there were 4 things that became a disappointment to me,



1)Smugglers didn’t smuggle


2)Dancers and Musicians couldn’t write their own music (understandable)


3) Chefs didn’t work (fix later on)


4) No player cities (Of course this was added later on)



Lucky for us, ¾ was changed. And even now the game is constantly still on the drawing board so to speak. So after thinking what would be cool I came up with at least 4 professions that could be revamped (so to speak) and yet stay basically the same.



1) Smugglers could smuggle


2) Rangers could be more looked at for a profession


3) Dancers Could do more of a buff


4) Chefs would be effected by the last 3 additions

C) Entertainer/Chef


Ok So you have these new resources that are obviously used in some character enhancing food… but why put chef and entertainer in the mix? Well let me respond with that question with another. When you go to a bar, club, disco, or whatever don’t you buy some drinks some refreshments that make your time there a little better? So why not make these new toxins from the origins give you bonuses while you are at the cantina. So you could have a drink that adds… 50% bf self heal rate when you drink it (last for like 10 minutes max and works while only listening/watching an entertainer.) and you could have drinks that ONLY work after interacting with entertainers at the cantina. Another example for a more long term drink would be an alcohol that normally +100 regeneration to all 3 stats for 10 minutes. Instead you have a +300 regeneration to all stats for an hour because you drunk it and watch a entertainer. Also the more powerful drinks can only be effective at linked cantinas. Why would this be good? This would encourage players to go to player cantinas and encourage dancers to dance at them. Also this is effective because entertainers could buy these unless drinks for low prices and resell them linked to their own cantina. This would also encourage cnet type shouts to get people to not only come and visit their cantinas but dance and play in them. (side not to link the food/drink to the cantina would require ownership and and master dancer/musician.)

NOTE: this would have many possible bugs at first and trying to learn how to script this into the system would have many possible bugs, but nothing we arn't used to eh?" And also NOTE that this would most likely be the buggiest of all suggestions.

Currently I see one problem with this. There are no scans of droid storage compartments. Anyone can 'smuggle' contraband in there right now.

Good point. I think theres a good way to fix this. I will give two





Making it so new illegal items, (the toxins from animal body parts) not be able to placed in droid storage area's and be placed into a house deed.)


Pro- Well it would make it sweet and simple


Con- Well its just plan stupid that you can't store these items into your droid or deed your house with them in your house.












Making it so that droid storage, house deeds could be scanned


Pro- Would be most realistic to do it this way.


Con- Alot of margin for bugs, and when people have vaulable items in their houses with a new system patched in you don't want them to loose everything they earned.

I saw a few ides that would fit into this nicely. The driod compartment thing jogged my memory.



First- Do make droid compartments, etc.. scanable


Second- Give smugglers the option to 'modify' driods, & ships to place a 'secret compartment' and depending on your visibility, reputation,etc.. you will be sucessfull in it not getting scanned.


Third- Create a smugglers only starport at thease smugglers bazaars. Since these are 'hidden' there are no 'authoritys' to scan you. Allthough you could throw in a good old police raid now and then to make it interesting.

An possible added idea - Well because of the new GCW revamp you could have space sectors blockade by whomever is controlling the planet, and if you get bored, you could "Drop the shipment," or "try your skill" or try to outrun them. and the options would work on ground and on space

Drop the shipment option would reduce your chances of getting cought by 80% but you loose the shipment so no pay, and chance for a bounty on your head

Try your skill and the work on your skill... of course if you get cought a fee, loose of shipment and no pay, and a bounty on your head.

and if you run you get a nice flag on you (smuggler) where any local police member will attack you. and you will have local police members track you down. and if you get incapped/killed by the local police member, fee, death, loose of shipment, no pay, and that nasty bounty on your head.

How about SOE just impliment the SMUGGLING content that was In Concept and we discussed for 5 months?

I would also like the Wilderness concept and the Only Player citiy,



Wilderness meaning free pvp but you would be automaticly kicked from all if you had no backin


but no.... the complete fact that no... we criminals, murdarders, robbers, and criminal cities, no long can possible exsist, by changing why everything was going to work in last few months... This game this not the SWG i was looking forward too... sigh... why did they take the way the possible cruelity?it would have removed anybody who was stupid, damnthe corperation.

but i could go on for ever able how the game drasticly changed from what it was going to be for days, another good idea would be have a smuggler copartment be addable to all spaceships but only muliperson ships could have them be able to open while in space.

How about a smuggler only enrance / roomat the back of the starport for those "certain" journeys we have to make .


Or add the option to "launch ship now" on your smuggler mission terminal??.


Or , jus give us the fcekin content we been promised.

I was here way before they released the first beta, but i don't quite remember every detail of the orignal content they where going to release on smuggler? if anyone would be so kind to give me a HTML like to a forum or something that tells me what the origanal content?
