Hey guys. Just want to comment on all the great advice I have found in the smuggler forums. I have a question that wasn't answered in the faqs. So far I am 0-4-0-4 in smuggler, Master Pikeman, and 4-0-4-0 in scout. Slicing and spices were the easier to do. For my pistol xp should I go pistoleer first or can I kill quenkers and such with my scout blaster or fwg5?Which brings me to my next question, what pistol do you recommend if I do not go pistoleer?

I would get novice pisoleer and as much of the combat xp line as you can.

Reasons:

1. Health shot 2 - nice lil skill and stacks.

2. DX2 - extra damage type.

3. Speed - This really comes into play once you get Last Ditch.

I asked the same question.

After i did slice and spice..I went pistoleer and did the techniques line first..fan shot rules, you can hit multiple people with one shot.

Then i went back and mastered smuggler doing dirty fighting and then underworld.

I used a DX2 until Techniques 2 where you can use the GEO sonic blaster.

Now im going to go back and finish pistoleer so i can use the DE-10 at master

Most people do the triple threat smuggler pistoleer and TKM

I'm going to try something other than TKM i hated the unarmed grind for smuggler..lol

I did pistoleer 1st and it helped alot with the pistol xp part of smuggler. I when out to dath and hunted rancors with a DX2 and on a set of buffs I had the xp in no time. If you do go pistoleer do the tech tree 1st to get fanshot. Hope this helps

Yup Quenkers are a good XP cow.

As previously mentioned, get at least novice pistoleer so you can have your DX2 Cert. (Acid is great on quenkers)

Make sure you get a decent DX2.

And with Doc buffs you really won't need to waste any more pistol XP on pistoleer to be able to complete savage quenker missions.

Again as previously mentioned, feel free to spend your combat XP on the techniques line in pistol since it won't be taking away from your smuggler req's.

thanks everyone. i have alot of combat xp saved up from pikeman (plus i dropped fencer to get the skill points for smuggler). i just have to get the 125k for novice pistoleer now. i can hang around theed and kill the shaupauts, plains hunters, and such until i get novice. iam going to keeppikeman because i have already done TKA and dropped it. i have a dx2 that i had since about the 2 month after launch that has never been used but i'm not certified for it yet. this has really helped me alot. thanks again.

I was a master pistoleer first, and let me tell you, you want to finish the pistol side of smuggler? Go to Janta Cave (the ewok things on Endor, not the half naked guys on Dantooine.) and use Fan Shot. Fan Shot will clean house on a group of them at a time.

I leveled the first line of pistoleer first to get the dodge bonus, butthat wasa mistake. It really didn't help all that much, so go with tech first.

I got novice pistoleer right after novice smuggler. As I worked up the DF line I used all of the combat XP to go up the speed line in pistoleer. After DF 3 (LB) I worked on the pistoleer accuracy line as I found I missed too often - especially back in the early days of the DX2 when its effective range was point blank. From there I mastered smuggler, then used the DF techniques to finish off pistoleer by taking on hordes of giant baz nitches on Dath.
