Sorry I don't know how to clicky - you will have to copy & Paste.

I posted this in the GCW forum because it seemed appropriate at the time. I wondered what you guys thought about it though -do-able ? Worth doing?

The fake id thing is one of my personal favorites. I think something like it is doable, I just don't know if they will ever do it. I don't know about the temporary nature of this version, but to each their own. Here was another example of that basic idea of fake identification.

2-L
Counterfeit Identification

Counterfeit Identification is a schematic of an identity card that is less than truthful of whom you really are. As the smuggler progresses up the slicing tree he gains new insight into how to improve his or her counterfeit designs, and increasing what their false identification can do for them. Counterfeit Identification's abilities when being created will rely on the Slicing modifier.

To get the component of a counterfeit ID, the player must purchase a crate of unique Blank Identification cards from a GCW recruitor that they are aligned with. Rebel or Imperial. Each crate would have a unique serial # and contain perhaps 10 Blank Identification cards so the Smuggler can not make hundreds of cards easily. As these cards are centered on PvP aspects, it is the only way to make this completely voluntary. These crates are intrusted to the smuggler personally, and should not be able to be traded in that form.

You would create the Counterfeit Identification with a Weapon, Droid, General Item tool. It would be too complex to use without a crafting station, and it should automatically bring the player into the experimentation process. Smugglers would then, using their slicing abilities, and depending on their successes, make a Counterfeit Identification.

Putting re-use timers of at least 5 minutes per card, to prevent exploitation of some of the bonuses. Make these cards tradable, but difficult to mass-produce by the materials needed.

These should not be able to be used while in combat, and give it the 30sec after combat timer like storing pets as well to keep someone from /peace /neutral.

A mechanics issue of continuing to have faction pets after use would need to be addressed. A player should not be able to have faction pets out while covert, nor should they be able to wear faction armor. To prevent instantly switching from Overt to Covert, it has been suggested that no faction pets, or faction armor can be out or equipped, in order to use a Counterfeit ID. If you do, the ID is not consumed, but the timer to use it is reset. - Thanks Kithzyan.

Allow Counterfeit Identifications to be made only by those who have sided with a particular side of the Galactic Civil War. As these ID cards are centered upon PvP applications, and we do not wish to force others into PvP encounters that haven't signed up for it, this is the only option I can think of to solve that problem. That way they will have consented to player vs. player combat by siding with a faction before being able to craft this item.

A side effect of using these counterfeit identification cards is another issue. With the inclusion of Jedi bounty hunter missions, we now know there is a hidden value that attributes to 'Visibility.' When these cards are used by anyone, I propose that the smuggler who created this fake ID, have his visibility level rise, and put his name on the bounty hunter terminals. Until such time as he acquires a master smugglers fake identification, to lower his Visibility score, he will be fair game to any bounty hunter able to pick up his name from the terminals.

Effects would be cumulative. The % that I show is how much of the Experimentation bar must be filled to get the next effect.

  • 0% - Instant removal of TEF flag.

  • 30% - Refined technique, your visibility does not increase as much when a fake ID you created is used by another.

  • 60% - Instantly changed to Covert status.

  • 80% - Lowers the visibility score for any individual who uses it. Smugglers could use their own cards, to lower their visibility rating, as could any interested Jedi characters that do not want to have their face showing on the nearest Bounty Hunter Terminal. This also raises the players Lawful Citizen Faction. Basically helping them erase their felonious past.

Notice though, this only lowers it for the person using it, if a Jedi made use of the ID, the master smuggler would have his visibility increased still. The trick would be to make the visibility gained less than what is taken away by the ID when they use it themselves. Thus the Master Smugglers still have to be mindful of their accumulating visibility, and may need to go incognito for a while. It has been mentioned that there are some bugs with the Object Creator getting xp in the case of weapons or anything of that nature. If this were made to work across all planets to adjust the creators visibility, regardless of them being on-line or not, then it is working correctly.

In the players inventory, a counterfeit identification is considered illegal and is subject to detection and the consequences brought about by it.

Example:

Han Solo throughout the novels has had to frequently use fake identification to get him new jobs, or out of trouble. He apparently had many fake id's and names keyed to his appearance, retinal patterns and fingerprints, and security just didn't happen to check out that 30 other people in the galaxy, with possible criminal records, matched it exactly. I don't mean to go against Image Designers and their proposals, but this is obviously something that is smuggler involved to me.
