Last night, I finally got stopped by an Imperial stormtrooper and was scanned... and caught! I figured something evil would happend. They would take away my blaster or whatever other illegal item showed up on their scans. What, to my wonder eyes, should it do? It fines me, or orders it to offer me a bribe. Depends on how you look at it. If I don't pay the fine, I would lose faction points.
I don't know how many other people in the smuggler board have been caught (we're suppose to get a bonus to avoiding these as Underworld goes up, I believe), but this seems rather broken and kind of hurts us. Our three viable services as a Smuggler right now are delegating FP, slicing and passing out Muon and Pixe (because the others don't compete with the Chef foods).
If anything, the Imperials should be hitting you with an FP penalty, no matter what. You're breaking the law, it's going in your Imperial record.

You should lose Imperial faction points regardless. The amount should be based on whether you decide to pay the fine or not.
I would say that the discovered item should take some kinda hit, either being confiscated or decayed, but people get pissy when you take away their expensive uber-items.

Thats the least of the problems with it. My Imperial Master Smuggler has been scanned twice now and both times I was found out. Both times as a master Smuggler. My Imperial Master Doctor/Politician has never been scanned. Seems they should be scanning the politicians more than anything given the reputation that politicians have.

I got caught once and have been scanned about 8 times. It cost me 310 credits I believe and I didn't lose any Imperial Faction Points. Oooo the emperors mighty hand at work.

I think instead you should be able to use that Unarmed IV which we have for no reason to knock him out cold when nobody's looking

Hmmmm... Are you guys getting caught Master Smugglers?
I have been scanned probably 8-10 times and have never been caught, so obviously I don't think it's broken.

I agree, I've been scanned so many times I can't even count 'em. Never been caught. You would've thought puking from a drug downer would've been a dead giveaway though.

Ive been scanned about 10 -12 times and only once got cought, so it is working fine for me.

I think maybe the reason I got caught the one time is when I got stoped it jerked me off my bike right into the water and I got out of the water,instead of just float there and wait for the scan to be completed

I think the scanning itself is fine. I think the penalties for getting caught are a little lax.

I've been scanned about a dozen times paid the fine twice. But the most interesting time when I was in my vehicle and was stopped, popped out of my X-34 was told to hold to be scanned. At this time the mob I had agro'd caught up the imp's starting shooting killed the mob and I was never scanned they forgot why they stopped me.

Here is what drives me crazy. I was on Naboo somewhere and a Stormtrooper stopped me for a scan. Now since I'm an Ex BH and have been caught with sliced weapons numerious times, whenever I'm scanned I get turned overt. So this time I break out the VK and beat the ST to death as well as his backup. Now I'm in the middle of Imperial territory TEFed. So I proceed to kill Imp NPCs and two noob Imp PCs to get to the Starport. Now after I killed the 12th or 13th trooper I realized I'm not getting any rebel FP. So this begs the question what the hell is the point of the "GCW". I take the chance of getting TEFed and killed by any nerby Imperial players with NO reward at all. Nice going guys. You really know who to make a game interesting.

Why would the Rebel faction give you FP for going ape on a Stormtrooper?
