Well, not much to tell I guess really. It is no longer random at the slice. There should be a FAQ I'm sure to give you the specifics. Components for the slices are all loot drops now. Old AUKs and WUKs converted to the new components but unless you had a large supply, you'll be looking for components to do most of your slices. Bounty hunter missions now drop the higher end components but you'll still need to find a supply of the lower end stuff. The shock padding seems to be the rarest at this point. You pick the slice you want and you'll always have whatever percent be it damage, speed, etc. There are nine components to the slicing. If you slice an item it gains a certain value for the slice, once you hit 100 percent, you can not add any additional slices. Each type of slice always adds this percentage. Only masters can slice to a 100 percent. Check the list, it will give you what each slice does and the components required. Armor and weapons can still be sliced, but you cannot slice anything sliced in the previous system.
