Thread: About to put ADK on weapon. Advice on Slicing.

Um, don't know how to tell you this, but we don't have a choice anymore about using the old slicing system or the new extensive system. It's all the new system, it's not a matter of which system you use, it's what you want to do and what components you have. Damage slices are nice, but, if you read the FAQ above, you'll notice you need some components to get the better slices.
Now assuming you know what you're talking about and just didn't ask the question right, and you are really asking whether we think it's worth going to the effort of tracking down the components for the high level slices before putting the ADK on, hard to tell. Depends on a lot of things like what are the stats? Are you going to hit caps and just be wasting your time? Personally, if you are going to put a ADK on something, I'd try and slice it as much as you can before doing so.
Bear in mind there are issues with damage caps and slicing of which I know little myself, but if you run into a damage cap, you can certainly put some speed slices on it and maybe a crit if you like, hoping they might fix that damage, which I'm told only works if you have a critical attack special.
BTW, I really want to ask you what you meant by you "got into smug for the crafted items?" You picked up smuggler for spices? Or because of the gaming tables, bubble tanks and Shisas we can make? I'm just curious, because I've never met anyone who got into Smuggling for the crafting aspect. I'm guessing you mean spices, but who knows.

Going through the forums I hear that pre-Cu weapons cannot be sliced. This true? I also hear the exact opposite. Any clarification on this?
As far as me becoming smuggler, I did this simply to start a business. I went master merchant and master Smuggler, this gave me a huge array of items that I currently craft. From High end Powerups.. to Smuggler spices (which my guild needed). As I was very prepaired to slice anything in the beginning (had my tools and everything), the new patch came out and well all those (pre patch)tools became usesless from what I have read. Now there are tools that we can loot and I have found posts on where and how to do that. As being a smug for only a few weeks trying to get my business up and running through different parts of the Ahazi galaxy, I have not concentrated on slicing (thus my in-experience). Once my business is up, a focus will be made on the slicing aspect of our chosen profession.
Final question... If i throw this ADK on this Pike, regardless of it being sliced or not, will the ADK prevent it from being sliced in the future when i have the tools do do so? i.e. can a weapon with an ADK be sliced?

Actually, come to think of it. It doesn't matter about the ADK, you can slice over them, well I have in the past and just the other day in fact. I have heard some people having problems with this. You might have a problem if you slapped a power up on the pike and the ADK, however since the code would want to remove the power up before slicing and it might be...not good.

I've sliced pre-CU weapons, but only ones that hadn't been sliced before.
A word about your tools. They are not all worthless. Knives and clamps are, but Weapon Upgrade Kits and Armor Upgrade Kits (WUKs and AUKs) can be converted by using the salvage command off the radial menu of the item in your inventory. It will then be converted into one of the new tools randomly, so don't through your WUKs and AUKs out, even if they are in crates.
Now, aside from reading the FAQ, a great thing to do is get to know the search function. I'm not being patronizing, sometimes I think people don't realize the value of it...though it is down a lot...for example punch in Pre-CU weapon slicing and you'll probably find a lot of posts with the info for which you are looking.
Lol.. thus the reason why I am confused. The search option.. can be your best friend or your worst enemy. Today alone, I have seen not only someone posting that pre cu items can be sliced and another saying they can. Seems to me that this smuggling patch will need some time to iron itself out. Once everyone knows the facts.. we will start setting more recent posts confirming the truth. For now I take your XP and go off of that.
