well i've got a kinda limited budget right now and i just want to know something....

is JTL really worth buying? i mean sure bugs, bugs bugs that come with every new game (maybe if they had let those under 18 beta tests....dumba****) but does it really add a "starwarsy" feeling to the game, more importantly does smuggler get anything from it? if i dont get JTL i'll probably be camping outside EB so i can get my copy of...(wait for it).....

HALO 2!!!!!!

plust, WoW dosent seem that far off in the future, and i dont wanna give SOE money they definatley dont deserve (though that could be argumented by my last 2 months of doing nothing and probably being removed from my guild due to my inactivity)

so please....does it suck?

My Star Wars feeling skyrocketed with JTL.

You know how much I enjoy it? I have one day left on my subscription and I STILL bought it despite a tight budget. I hope to return and find the game even more improved...

Smuggler doesn't get anything right now with JTL, but in the future I have dollars to dimes that they are going to do some great things with it for smugglers. It's just not there yet. The basis for a great deal of smuggler related activity is there though. Heck they even have missions I would consider for smugglers available in the expansion. Too bad everyone can do them... They are interesting, have ships come after you all while you are delivering cargo to other vessels.

I really enjoy JTL right now. I love taking my friends with me on trips to either party on my Sorosuub or help each other on missions.

It is extremely twitch oriented though, so if you aren't in to that, I'd say steer clear for now. Then check in maybe after the combat upgrade, where we should be getting our revamp.

the release of JTL brings the ludicriously delayed smuggler revamp one step closer to finally happening

other than that its really just a time sink to distract players from the long awaited and much needed revamps

I have to agree with Caylin. The one thing that really felt good, is actually joining the Smuggler's Alliance. I know it means nothing now and anyone can do it, but in some wierd small way I finally felt like a smuggler.

Can't say this justifies buying it, but on the whole space is real cool and the potential, especially for smugglers, is tasty and plentiful.

JTL is exactly what SWG needed. We now have the RPG ground game, and the twitch-based space game.

Do you know this is the first MMORPG to combine these two concepts in this way?

As for the 'star-warsy feeling', JTL adds it completely.

And while no, the expansion did not specifically add anything for the Smuggler, there is enough added that makes you feel like a Smuggler. We have spent the past year creating our own content to feel like a Smuggler in the game, and joining the Smuggler's Alliance makes me feel like a Smuggler. Is it Smuggler content? No. Does it feel like Smuggler content? Yes. I just consider the other people I see doing the Smuggler's Alliance track as support personell for my smuggling. <grin>

There are missions in which you "deliver an item while hostiles attack you" in every profession. I still don't consider [Smuggler's Alliance] pilots to be Smugglers, nor 'Smuggling' - at least not any more than Rebel Pilots or Imperial Pilots might sometimes "smuggle", with a lower-case s - JFreeman - 10/6/04

JTL helps you ignore a lot of things that are wrong with the ground game. After a while, though, the Star Wars feeling wears off and you start seeing things that are wrong in the JTL too.

Essentially, it is a good diversion. If a major ground game-improving publish happens while we're busy flying in space, the developers may be on to something.

Oh, there are.. they just don't kill you. Crashing into ship debris can be pretty disturbing, though. Especially when it's from the same class of ship you're in.

I tend to agree with this post. It was a fun diversion at first, but began to grow repetitive in short order. I will also agree that the Smuggler's Alliance was definitely the way to go if you are interested in a bit of smuggler-like gameplay.
