I would say at the moment it really doesn't matter as Slicing itself is a bit messed up. Check out some of the posts here concerning it. I myself am going on sabatical in the slicing department till it gets fixed.

this is the way it is supposed to work (copied from another thread)

Slicing 2
Weapons: 12% damage or 1% speed

Slicing 3
Weapons: 12% damage or 1% speed
Basic Armor: 17% effectiveness
Standard Armor: 9%
Advanced Armor: 1%

Slicing 4
Weapons: 14% damage or 3% speed
Basic Armor: 19% effectiveness
Standard Armor: 11%
Advanced Armor: 3%

Master
Weapons: 16% damage or 5% speed
Basic Armor: 23% effectiveness
Standard Armor: 15%
Advanced Armor: 7%

I am a Master Smuggler, and I have had slices from -1% to positive max. But I do get, on occasion, max slices, which are higher than Slicing 4 can go. But heck, no telling if a Slicing 4 has reached the same max too, things are so screwed up.

Slicing is kinda borked at the moment. And there never has been any info in the Master box about a bonus to slicing, though we've been told by a Dev that Masters do get a bonus.

Correct, slicing is borked. Untill it gets fixed I will not be slicing my weapons.
