I haven't read through much as far as your typical new player reaching older has gone, But I do know one thing.... Things didn't just get harder...

I played SWG when they offered the free 14 day trial to people who downloaded the client, and I grinded my way through pistols, and unarmed, and was nearly 3k away from becoming a smuggler when my account trial ended and I lost my interesting in playing once I used a harvester...

Anyhow, on to the real issue.
I know that gaining pistol experience to reach novice smuggler shouldn't be simple to obtain, but I also believe that I should be able to solo mobs at my level. I have ran missions that are at or below my level to a complete munch-on-the-wanna-be-smuggler-fest. I have finally come to terms with the fact that I can't kill anything by my pistol alone, I have to use my unarmed to damage the mobs for any amounts of damage and use Center of Being to help lower the amount of damage I have to tank. Well, problem with that, is that my Center of Being is only functioning while I have melee weapons equipped.

I'm coming to you, because you are what I wish to become, however, if I keep proceeding at this rate... 1 skill bubble in my Novice Smuggler per day, I can't imagine what I'm going to do to my mouse or to my game in general! Do you have any post-CU suggestions for reaching this profession? I know that the Devs tell me to group, but I'm a level 12, due to my unarmed and my pistols, and I can't help but be discouraged when most characters are either 25+ or 7 and under. Am I playing my character incorrectly? I begin with an aimed shot, turn quick draw on auto fire, and run for the hills. If they get close, I use firearm strike to dizzy them and run further, yet I am always caught up with easily, and I have terrain nego. as high as you can go before becoming a ranger/bh/CH or the like.

Should I drop my scout skills? Should I play differently? Any suggestion at this point would be GREATLY apperciated. I'm going to cross post thing into the pistoleer forum, as they use my weapons as well, and I plan on using that as my second profession. Thanks for your time

Get in a group with a bunch of level 80 people who are attacking level 80 creatures/NPC's + or - a few levels or so.

All you have to do it hit the creature they are killing once, and you will get ALOT of xp.

Just be courteous and ask around. If you do get let into such a group, you will be set!!!

You should use the special you get at Novice Smuggler. (concussive blast) This "roots" your target so it cannot move. It doesn't always stick, but you already know how to run and shoot.

Quickdraw is your best attack otherwise.

You need to be using the best pistol for your level. Which is the Striker Pistol (CL 12). Your DPS should be 100+ with that weapon.

Also, get some cheap recon armor and maybe a PSG. If you can out damage your target shot for shot (Thanks to armor at Novice) you should be able to stand toe to toe and keep firing your pistol. Forget about unarmed.
