Thread: Will smugglers finally get love, or will the CU kill it?

...Just a thought. The CUnotes arecreating an epic amount of complaints right now. What crossed my mind was that every time there is an intended update to Smuggler something else gets in the way because of problems with an upgrade or nerf. This upgrade will surely have plenty of it's own. So, does that mean that smugglers will have to, yet again, sit by the sidelines and wait their turn while the CU is fixed and tweaked?

What do you guys think.

TH said that the combat part of smuggler would be worked on and out with the CU, and then the rest of our skills with the revamp.

The CU sounds to me pretty complicated, hopefully they deliver it well or I might have to drop Pistoleer and pick up tailor or some thing

Seems to me that the majority of people bitching about the CU notes fall into two catorgories - the greedy masses who can't stand the thought of their Riflemen/Doc toons owning everything in sight and the great fearful crowds who fear change as if it represents the end of the world.

Yeah, I agree with you completely. My favorite part is seeing the people who have been screaming for a Combat Upgrade for the past year and a half now scream that it's too late and we should keep the current system. On the plus, side, though, this proves incontravertably that the Whiney Masses are absurdly stupid.

Ya the CU stuff looks really amazing. I'm kinda wondering a bit about the 1 bar health thing now. I'm hoping you can still hit the other pools so they have less points to use on specials. The wind up and cooldown thing will be good if used right. If they make 75% of specials with this then it will suck, it should be like 35%. Powerful attacks and abilities like /aim should only require these.

People screaming in there seem to forget that we are getting new weapons, new armors (including faction), making the older armors appear more. Buffs won't be needed as much, which is a plus cause they do ruin this game. I see a lot in that doc which is what ppl have requested for over the life of this game. We are getting new icons in colour for specials and a update to the UI, and that rocks cause I don't like the look of it anymore, seems dated.

I'll be happy when this hits, ppl will be on a level playing field and it will now take certain tactics with skills to overcome your enemy, instead of super armor and strength.

I completly agree with you. The 1 bar health thing will make it easy to balance the classes which is great. The thought have having a rifle, carbine and pictol be equal is awesome. The only people complaining are the 3% who play theelite unbalancedclass. Everyone else who plays what they like should be jumping for joy. I played eq2 and the gameplay is great, i am just into star wars more then wizards and warriors. If they make it anything like eq2 i will be the happiest person.

the one thing i always hated about swg was the sheer amount of Comp Armour Clones. Everywhere youd go thered be hundreds of people in the same armour. Now in the films i dont think there was 1 person (apart from faction troopers) that looked alike. If you PvP youd need comp armour, to hunt youd need comp armour it drove me nuts. As a smuggler i hated the thought of ever having to wear armour to do anything, in the end i just stopped buying it and went with normal clothes. To me that seems more smugglerlery

I hope the CU will make people think twice about what armour they are using and maybe we can start seieng mix and match creating a truly lived in and true to form star wars game

The main problem with the CU information so far is they only gave part of the information. For most professions they have added extra requirements but only hinted about fixing problems in the skill trees.

Some professions have to know they will be much weaker when compared to the others then they are now so naturally they are resisting changes.

As a tripple Master pre Curb at first I was fairly annoyed with the CU notes but after a few days of reflection an all pistols template might be fun.

Well for the combat side of the CU I'm rather excited to see what happens but there are a few people upset over it because some professions seem to be becoming useless from it. Namely any of the entertainer professions. I know I'm not changing my char due to this change but I am a Master Dancer/Master Smuggler.

You know a dance of death would be fun to see but if you read the notes out already it is effecting more then just combat. No mind wounds and a nerf of buffs(including mind buffs). The removal of Stat Migration for the IDs. This is already causing alot of dancers to be concearned. I am interested in the combat side due to SMuggler which is my income but dancer is a favored prof of mine and don't want to see that become frivilous either.

The Entertainers concerns are the mind wounds. Take a look at the document, except healthwounds all other wounds get thrown away. I for one expect BF to happen more than usall. Not just because armour will protect less.

I have a number of concerns, but I am reserving judgement and comment until I have read all the supposed documents.

However, I have a different concern. In reading that SOETyrant has moved on, this means there will be a power shift, and in my experience, anytime there is a change in the power structure, priorities get changed as the team "leader" marks his territory and creates his own agenda. What will this mean ultimately for the revamps to follow the CU?

I fear smuggler may get moved to the bottom of the pile once more as the new king decides that other things are more important to deal with than fixing this profession.
