What to do?
I'm going to grab Commando for the AOE Launcher pistol, can I get my grubby hands on a rocket launcher with 9 skill points? And is the RL a DOT weapon?
While all advice is greatly appreciated, the best advice gets free beer

Rocket launcher (CL22 0-64M) is 0-0-1-0 so you can get that.
Commando 0-4-0-0 Lightning Beam Cannon CL50 0-40M range
Commando 0-0-0-3 Acid Stream Launcher CL40 0-65M range

Cool, am I right in thinking the RL isKD too? And does it have a DOT?

It has a small aoe and the kd but do not think it has a dot, I just got x-x-1-x and finally found a RL it's CL22 with DPS around 100 so other the using it as a kd, root, mez @ 64M's it's not good for damage. (MS/MP/commando 0-4-1-0 at the moment)

RL has a KD and good range. That's about it. However, with the corrected Smuggler specials, it could be really interesting -- especially since it has no DOT to break the mezz.
Another option would be the Acid Rifle. Has a wide AoE and no DoT. It also has a blind on it. I'm thinking that the AR with mezz+root is the way to open most battles.
