Ok Ive been mulling over this for hours and here is the conclusion I've come to:

There are 2 schools of thought on the subject of FD

1. It should only be a PVE skill and never in PVP.

2. It is a viable PVP skill just in dyer need of reworking.

It is literally impossible to make both sides of this issue happy, right or wrong it is really that simple. I'm not saying your right or wrong on what ever side of the issue you stand in just pointing out a fact. I'm for it in PVP and will fight kicking and screaming with a DE in one hand and a VK in the other to make sure it stays a PVP skill, other people will fight just as hard to have it removed from PVP and that is cool because it's what they feel should happen. By taking FD out of this thread it negates the whole point of it in the first place. Everything in this outline is set up to answer key issues that come up with FD as a PVP skill, no resolution to combat, to easy a skill for dabblers to get, to open to grief, no one can fake death, so on and so on. Even if we are never added to the BH terminals this outline is still very workable in every contexted of combat using FD as a PVP skill. All the mask skills and all the evasion stuff is great and I hope it gets into the game, take all that away and look at FD and we go right back to should it or should it not be a PVP skill, that my friends is the real issue. I will not take it out of this out line, not because it's my idea (which it is not, it isidea's taken from many people who want FDto stayPVP skill) but because this out line addresses FD as a PVP skill. If you dont want FD as a PVP skill then nothing done to FD will ever work for you simply because it's a skill you dont want in PVP and we can go back and forth for years on this. If your open to the idea of FD staying a PVP skill then I think you will agree this is a solid, fair and balanced resolution to the issue. If you don't want FD as a PVP skill then nothing said in this thread will work for you, it's that simple. I'm truly not saying anyone is right on this one way or another, I'm just saying.....

My thought on FD is simple.

Someone Feigns death the BH wins the mission however there is no loss of xp, faction, whatever for the feigner maby a % of the bountys value charged to you. Note this makes it not an instant "I win button" but instead an instant "you win button"

I always thought the way asmuggler would feign death is to fake their death leaving evidence behind. (example Car bursts into flames with a body that appears to be a smuggler inside.) So the BH goes back to his boss shows the evidence of the death and he gets paid.

Of course I don't like the idea of every bounty hunting mission being assasinates either. If you're doing that call the class Assassin. but that's another topic alltogether.

All great ideas Yimaz!

I have only one question: Aside from the BH's, how do you propose we create more opportunities for Smuggler's to interact with other players...as actual smugglers? - good question both masktrack and mask faction @ master gives the smuggler the skill to now uses these /masks in a group situation. Now we are actually smuggling people in real time.

The improved skills are great, but we still need a good reason to use the skills in the first place. I know everyone says "We have been asking to smuggle for a long time" but I think your proposal is incomplete unless you address how/why the skills you outline will need to be utilized. - the skills would work nicly in a Smuggler vs BH situation and if that never happened theyalso work well in PVP and group situations (i.e. smuggling overt players in and out of hot zones, smuggling jedi away from a tracking BH..etc)

I've said it before, but I firmly believe there needs to be strong penalties associated with many "common" in-game tasks (carrying contraband being #1 on the list) in order to "force" other players to hire us and be willing to pay for our services. - while I agree 1000% sadly it will never happen how ever and with that said, check out Tern's idea on cargo smuggling it is a great salution to your concern.

Keep up the good work Yimaz...looking forward to your next post! -/bow and thank you

I am telling you yimaz, if you make /masktrackingdroid a skill that is manually activated it will be of little use because 1) most smugglers will die when the BH tracks exactly to their first location and 2) if a smuggler causes BH mission failure by "escaping", the mission will end as soon as the smuggler drives far enough away to cause the combat window to close (assuming that an "escape" ending is granted to smugglers to bring finality to the bounty encounter). What would be the point of an escaped smuggler scrambling the signal if the mission has already failed for the BH?

I was kinda wondering about the whole "driving away" thing. A BH could jump on their bike and start chasing ya, but the chances of him killing you are pretty slim, unless they've got a good macro that will let them dismount and fire specials instantly.

I think if this type of system is in place then it's high time that bikes got weapons! Or, considering that you can now survey on a mount - that you can fire your weapon from a mount.

Kinda off topic - but just a thought.

Underworld4
grants a /masktracking droid skill, this skilldistorts a smugglers bio sigfrom tracking droids sendinga BH to a location200 to 500meters away from the smuggler at Investigation 4 and 500 to 1000 meters away atMaster Smuggler.A BH would now need to search the general areaa Smuggler was "last seen".The Smuggler must remember to set this skill into motion either when he/she logs on to the gameor at some point while playing. This /mask skill would run for the duration of that smugglers game time and would deactivate when the Smuggler logged off or was attacked by a BH. If /masktrackis broken by a BH attack the Smuggler could reactivatethe skill15min after it isbroken, giving a BH more then enough time to find his mark again. If the Smuggler fails to remember to /masktracking when he/she logs in or at somepoint in-game they will be open to normal BH tracking. This makes it the Smugglersresponsibility to cover his/her own butt at the start of his/her game time.

Why not, instead of masking yourself entirely, have something that's more akin to a slicing ability; misdirect the BH with 2 or 3 alternative locations? That way, they've a chance of picking the right one, but it's far less likely of them catching up with you if they were just chasing you with droids as normal.

The further up the profession you are, the more alternative places the BH is sent and the further up the BH profession the BH is, the more they manage to filter out.

You won't see me fight to get FD removed. Believe it or not I was just trying to be helpful. You know, Devil's Advocate kind of thing. I was playing with the idea of seeing something else replace FD as PvP evasive skills, but your outline do have a big advantage: starting from existing stuff, it is more likely to be implemented. And even the flashbang idea made me a bit unconfortable because it felt way more a Commando move than a Smuggler one. (of course if we have gone that route we might have found something doing the same thing in a less SWAT like way, like a needle with a drug in it that paralise, but whatever)

Ok, so we keep FD in. Mmm maybe it is early and I am without coffee yet, but throwing another idea at you yimaz. You just know BH will complain about check pulse... ok so a BH won't get close to check pulse, but what about to collect a DNA sample as "proof" of his mark's death? Working exactly as you outlined, just a "change of name" that make it slightly more acceptable to BHs. We already know you have to get close to collect DNA sample: Bio Engineers dies enough to prove the point.

Btw BEs should not complain because the BH do nothing BEish with that sample, it is just a crude not well preserved DNA sample, just enough for the BHs to prove "see, I killed that guy". As for the BHs, not hard to believe I would think that giving the more advanced time of SW , someone could establish from the DNA (cellular decay or something) that the person sampled was dead when the sample was taken.

Just a suggestion to keep your outline exactly the way it is, but presented in a way that should satisfy most BHs. (the unreasonables ones that want to hold all the cards won't EVER be satisfied, no matter what, but the reasonables "looking for a fair deal for everyone" might.) What do you think? Will I blush in shame after my morning coffee that I wrote such a stupid idea, or does it make sence?

Don't necessarily agree with that point though - I don't think it should be part of PvP at this point in time with the system the way it is. However I'm eagerly looking forward to the CU to see how FD is incorporated - because if the system makes sense then we all win. If it doesn't - then we've got another 2 years to wait for a change

I like the idea a lot and will rework the original post a little later (work is nuts today) also wolf my post was not directed at you in any way it was just pointing out the 2 groups of people in the FD issue, I dont know who is right or wrong just wanted to express that point.
